Skylar's POV

I woke up from my slumber and got out of my bed, I surely needed a new one as my feet hung off the ends. I stretched my back and started to make my way downstairs, stopping abruptly when I heard two voices. I pressed my back against the door and tried to listen in on the conversation.

"She's never home anymore." The annoying high pitched voice said, it was obviously Julia.

I heard a sigh come from the room next door, "I know, she's been acting distant lately." I instantly recognised that voice as my dad's.

I involuntarily let a scoff escape my lips, he only now notices I'm 'distant'? I've been distant since what had happened to mum.

I was too lost in my thoughts to hear what Julia had said next, but I wish if had heard because next my dad said, "That's not a bad idea, I will sleep on it."

I waited at least two more minutes before I walked into the kitchen to grab some breakfast.

"Morning, honey." My dad spoke.

"Morning." I muttered, not really in the mood to talk right now as I had just woken up.

My dad and Julia quickly glanced at each other before looking back at me, "Are you doing anything today?" My dad asked.

"I think I might go to the park for a bit." I shrugged my shoulders.

I reached for the fruit bowl and grabbed a banana, already peeling it. "That's fine, Pete and I will be out for a few hours." Julia informed me.

I just rolled my eyes and left the room, not wanting to be in their presence anymore. I walked up to my room and quickly got dressed. I was wearing my favourite black high waisted jeans with rips at the knees; a grey Arctic Monkeys crop top which I tucked into my jeans and some black converse; I also threw on my red flannel.

I had done my daily routine of makeup which consisted of; foundation, concealer, mascara and a thin layer of eyeliner. I quickly took my phone off its charger and slipped it into my back pocket, after I was ready I made my way down stairs and walked out the door, not even bothering to say goodbye.

Once I made it to the park, which was only about a 15 minute walk from my house, I went straight for the swings. I don't know why, I guess I really like swings.

I just sat there thinking, about how quickly my life has changed. I moved to Sydney about a month ago and already I have been reunited with my sister and lost my virginity at a drunken party. That's a lot to take in.

I was pulled away from my thoughts when I felt someone push my swings, my body tensed as I turned around to find Luke there, I instantly relaxed.

"What are you doing here? You scared me." I giggled.

"I don't know, I was just walking down the street and saw you, so I decided to give you company." Even though my back was facing him I could tell he was smiling, showing off his adorable dimple.

"Thanks, I guess."

Soon after Luke walked over to the vacant swing beside me and sat on it, facing me. We started at each other before Luke spoke, "What are you doing here anyway? You were doing that cute thing, where you wrinkle your nose and furrow your eyebrows."

I brushed off that he just called me cute, it was probably unintentional anyway. "Just thinking."

He nodded his head in reply. Suddenly my stomach started making a strange noise, indicating that I was hungry, "Oh my god, sorry." I buried my face in my hands in embarrassment.

He chuckled, "You seem hungry, we could go to Starbucks? There's one only about 5 minutes away."

"Sure."

We finally made it to Starbucks and got into the que of people to order, soon enough it was my turn.

I picked up a plain muffin from the basket and ordered my drink. "Can I pease have a Mocha Cookie Crumble with cream please?"

The guy behind the desk smiled at me, "Of course."

I saw his eyes scan me up and down and I started to feel a little awkward. I heard a scoff come from the side of me and I turned to see Luke.

"Eyes to yourself, Kyle." He read his name off of his jumper.

After we had both ordered our coffees we walked out of Starbucks. "Sorry that guy was staring at you."

I laughed a little, "You don't need to be sorry, it's not like it was your fault. Thanks by the way."

He smiled and nodded his head.

We spent the rest of the day just hanging out, that's when I realised, I liked Luke. A lot.

A/N Sorry I took forever to update! I've been short of ideas lately but oh well, I'm working on chapter 12 right now and hopefully it will be up tomorrow💖
