Cancun was amazing. I could stay here forever. I had no problems here in Mexico. I knew the language, the food was amazing, and I could sit on the beach 24/7. But that sadly couldn't last forever because my return flight was tomorrow afternoon.

So here I was sitting in my hotel room packing my bags. I felt sad leaving this place, but I kinda missed my home in the city.

I missed the noisy streets and the late nights. I missed eating pizza at d'angelos and I missed my bathtub that I could take long hot baths in.

I was flying into Newark because I'm going to Lindsay's before I finally reach the big Apple.

She's kinda pissed at me for dropping off the edge of the world and not telling her or inviting her on this trip.

But I just needed to get away for a little bit and clear my head.

_______

The flight from Mexico to Jersey wasn't that long but it was uncomfortable and tiring.

I've picked up my luggage now I was just waiting for Lindsay's car to pull up.

Once I saw her black Nissan pull up in front of me I immediately put my bag in the trunk and jumped in trying my best to avoid the heavy rain.

Before I could even greet the girl I got an ear full from her about his worried sick she was for a whole week. And was "hurt" that I didn't invite or felt like I couldn't talk to her rather than just booking a flight and flying off to another country.

I was about to explain myself when something big and shimmery caught my eye.

And they're laying in her left ring finger was a 2 carat diamond ring.

"No way!"

She noticed I was staring at the huge ring with my mouth hung open.

"Way!"

"Oh my god. You are NOT engaged!"

"I totally am. And oh my god the way Sean proposed was just so- ugh I can't even explain. It was so magical Sel."

The look on her face was the look of a oh so in love girl. I was so happy for her.

"Tell me everything."

"Ok ok I will but let's get home first."

"Deal."

_________

Once Lindsay told me everything from how the day started off at them getting breakfast to him getting down on one knee at the top of  The Empire State Building during sunset and her saying yes and being a crying mess. I just couldn't  believe it.

"But you've only been dating for, how long has it been 3 months maybe 4?" I asked

"It's been 5 but it doesn't matter how long. We never had our chance and we finally have it and it feels right. He's my soulmate. We were meant to be. And deep down I know that this is how it was suppose to be."

"We've been wanting this since college and now we're finally getting it. And I couldn't be more happier than I am right now."

She probably noticed the sad look etched on my face.

Putting a comforting hand on my shoulder she said " don't worry sel. It'll all work out in the end. And you'll finally get to be happy. Just be patient."

She was right. Not trying to take this moment away from her I hugged her.

"I'm so happy or you Lindsay."

"Thanks. But there's one more thing. The weddings in 3 weeks."

"3 weeks!"

"Yeah... we wanted to keep it small and private family only. It'll be our immediate families and a few close friends. And I want you to be my maid of honor."

"Oh my god of course I'll be your maid of honor."

"Really? I thought you would be mad because the weddings in like less than a month."

" I mean I am but it's whatever. But we need to find dresses ASAP. And jewelry, and shoes, and we have to pick out a cake and a venue."

"We'll get that all done tomorrow. Right now I just wanna sit here and enjoy some quality time with my best friend."

I genuinely was happy for Lindsay. If anyone deserved happiness it was Lindsay and she's finally getting it.

Maybe in the end I'll get what I've always wanted too.
