One

Michael wanted me to come to some stupid gala for his stupid job again. I wasn't really in the mood for it but I promised him weeks ago that I'd come. And he was really excited about it. 

But I wasn't feeling it. I'd just gotten home from a long day at the hospital. Being a doctor wasn't as easy as Greys Anatomy made it out to be. But hey at least I got money.

"Sel babe are you ready?" I heard Mike yell from the master bathroom of our New York apartment.

"Not yet!" I hollered back. 

"Well why not?" He said coming out of the bathroom and stepping into the bedroom in a nice and crisp suit.

"I just got home from the hospital. I haven't got a chance to do anything." I sighed taking out my long silver silk dress from the closet.

"You said you would come home earlier so we could leave on time. We don't want to be late. I want you to meet my new business partner and her boyfriend before the gala starts."

"I know but I was stuck in a surgery that I couldn't get out of. I'm sorry."

"No no don't apologize. I should be the one saying sorry. I know you've had a long day at work. I should be more considerate."

"It's alright, I'm just a little tired and my feet hurt. I don't think I'll be able to wear heels tonight."

"If you're not feeling good you can stay home. But I can't be with you. I have to be there tonight. I can tell the rest you're sick though."

"No it's alright I can last a couple more hours, as long as there's food."

"Of course there will be. I even got them to cater from your favorite place."

"Come on and get ready beautiful."

Putting my arms around his neck I rested my head in the crook of his neck

"I love you." I whispered

"I love you to baby."

I didn't think I could love anyone ever again. But when I met Michael in my third year of college I wasn't so sure about it but he made me fall for him. And it's been so great.

He made me really happy and he knew about my past but he didn't judge he understood. And I loved him even more for it.

We've been together for 3 years now and I honestly think he's gonna propose. And if he does I won't say no. He the better choice. Maybe not the right but definitely the better one.

I loved him though and I guess that's all that mattered.
