Jimin woke up from the feeling of something even to the feeling of sandpaper on his cheek. He slowly opened one eyes, hoping to see what it was. When he saw Moonie lying next to him, continuing to lick all over his face, he opened his other eyes, a lazy, sleepy smile on his face. She purred as he ran his fingers through her fur, letting out a tired sigh.
He checked the time on his phone, which read 9:15 AM. He had only gotten three hours of sleep. And he felt it.
There was no reason for him to be up this early, it was just something his body did. Even when he went to sleep at an ungodly hour, he still woke up early. He never understood why he did this, but he never thought to check for an explanation.
His classes didn't start again until next week and he was off work for the next two days.
Along with checking his phone for the time, he was, for some reason, hoping to see a message alert from Jungkook.
Unsurprisingly, there wasn't one.
He sat his phone back on his bedside table, turning over in his side to face Moonie, who was staring up at him on her back with big, bright eyes as she laid on her back, her owner scratching her belly as she playfully clawed at his hand. He laughed a little at her actions, peace falling over him for just a few moments.
There was a knock on the door, which caused both Jimin and Moonie to shoot up in mild surprise. He pouted with a sigh, not ready to get out of bed at all.
But the knocking just kept on going and going until he got to the door. Swinging it open with a tired frown, he was met with a cheerful Taehyung.
"Mornin' sunshine," his best friend smiled brightly. And then his eyes travelled downwards to where Moonie, who had followed Jimin to the door, was. Taehyung smiled even wider, bending down to pick her up, which she let him do.
"Why are here so early?" Jimin asked, letting the boy in anyway. He sleepily rubbed his eyes as he closed the door, locking it behind him.
"I-"
"Wait- no. Scratch that. Why are you here?" Jimin repeated, walking into the kitchen, where Taehyung was. He had sat Moonie down and was now rummaging through Jimin's fridge and cabinets.
"You have no food in here, friend!" Taehyung let out a dramatic sigh, turning to face Jimin as he shook his head in mock disappointment.
"Why-"
"I say we go get something to eat!" Taehyung exclaimed, cutting Jimin off. "Let's go get breakfast. I'll pay."
Jimin eyed the boy suspiciously for a moment before Taehyung deflated and leaned against the counter, his eyes going soft.
"Listen," he said in his normal voice. "I know something is wrong and you need to talk about it. Let's go get breakfast and talk about it."
Jimin wasn't expecting the words that left Taehyung's mouth, but he found himself slightly smiling at him, his heart going warm.
"Okay," he said softly, nodding his head along with the word.
He got dressed and made sure that Moonie had enough food and water before he grabbed his phone and keys and left out the door with Taehyung.
Outside, it was still really cold, but it wasn't as cold as it had been the past two months. It was nice.
The boys decided to eat a restaurant they had been to many times before. They took their usually seats in the booth in the back, next to the window.
After ordering, Taehyung turned to Jimin with serious eyes as the older boy was staring out of the window, unaware of his friend's gaze.
"Jimin," Taehyung finally spoke, to which the boy in question turned around with wide eyes and raised eyebrows.
