Serenity’s POV

I opened the door cautiously, confused as to what could be behind it.

“Oh my God,” I gasped.

Behind the door was the most beautiful nursery I have ever seen. Even his nursery at home couldn’t touch this. It was complete with everything that I could possibly need.

I slowly walked in the door taking it all in.

“You didn’t have to do this you know,” I managed to get out still in shock at what I was seeing.

“I know,” he chuckled, “I wanted to”.

“This is amazing,” I said turning to him “it’s too much, I can’t…”

“Ser,” He cut me off, “I wanted to because I love Jace, I love him as if he were my own child and I love you. I want you to know that nothing will ever change that, no matter what you decide to do you and your son will forever be a part of me. We are mates and yes, I wish he was my son, but I don’t love him any less because he isn’t.”

I looked down at the floor, trying to mask the tears welling up in my eyes.

“Why?” I asked him, “Why do you care so much? You don’t even know me.”

“That’s not true Ser,” he said lifting my face so I was looking him directly in the eyes. “We may have only met not long ago here on earth, but our souls met an eternity ago. We are destined to be together, I wish you could just see what I see when I look at you.

I quickly turned my back to him as a few tears escaped. I didn’t want him to see me like this.

“I will leave you to get Jace ready,” he sighed.

I nodded silently.

“Just come down stairs when you are ready” he added, “ and Ser?”

“Yeah?” I forced out trying to pull myself together.

“He doesn’t know what he is missing out on,” he said looking back in my direction, “He has to be the stupidest pup I have ever met to turn his back on a beautiful image of perfection like you and Jace. To walk away from the perfect family, you deserve better. I truly hope you know that, you are worth so much more than he gives you credit for.”

He turned and started walking away.

“Jacobe?” I whispered.

“Yeah?” he asked turning to face me one more time.

“Thank you,” I added sincerely.

“For what?” he asked confused.

“For everything,” I said finding the courage to look him in the eyes. “For caring so much, for coming to rescue me from my own hell, for not trying to push me and most of all for saying that, for reminding me that I am worth something.”

“Ser, I will always do anything and everything in my power to make you and Jace happy.” He nodded, “ No need to thank me, it’s my sole purpose in life.”

With that he walked away and as soon as I heard the door shut I crumbled to a ball on the floor in sobs. I didn’t understand it, all I have done since I met him is push him away, tell him he wasn’t good enough for me… and yet after everything he is still waiting for me. I don’t deserve a mate that is so devoted, I had a pup with another wolf, but yet that doesn’t matter to him. He loves me all the same. And I am terrified that I won’t be able to love him the way he deserves.

I pulled myself together and looked around the beautiful room I was standing in. It was complete with a gorgeous crib, a basinet, a rocking chair, what appeared to be an antique dresser and lots and lots of toys. The walls were painted with jungle animals and everything matched it. There were two other doors in the room, curious I stood up and walked over to the first slowly opening it.

I could not believe my eyes, it was a huge walk in closet completely full with clothes and shoes in all sizes I could possibly need for Jace. I was mesmerized. I turned around and walked to the other door anxious to see what waited inside. I quickly opened it and to my amazement it was another walk in closet, slightly smaller than the other but completely stocked full with diapers and wipes, from floor to ceiling.

“He really does love Jace”, I whisper aloud to myself.

I shake my head and return to the first closet picking out a cute outfit and taking Jace to the changing table to get him ready. After he was changed and dressed I turned to look into the mirror hanging on the door.

“You can do this,” I whispered to myself exhaling a deep breath I didn’t realize I was holding, and I headed down stairs.
