Aubrey Valentina

After embracing Tyler for too many minutes, I got up and got ready for the day. I hit the showers and then threw on a simple red sundress and white platform sneakers. I hadn't washed my hair so I just brushed it into a high ponytail.

When I got back to the room, Tyler was no longer there. I shrugged the lonely feeling away and called my family back in Italy. I couldn't wait to see them again.

"Caio. Sono Rośe Romano," said my little sister through the phone. (Hello, This is Rosé Romano).

"Hey Rosé! It's me Val."

She squealed in excitement. "Venice, Luca it's Valentina!"

They all said hello is unison and we caught up on everything. I missed my little siblings so much and it's only been less than a week. We talked for almost a full hour before I decided to say goodbye.

"Okay well kiss Gianna for me, ti amo."

I ended the call and walked down to the cafeteria for some breakfast. I could tell my day wouldn't be too eventful, I would probably visit Evie and get a few things from the store, like pens and notebooks.

the next day

My alarm clock read 7:00 a.m. and that's when I knew I had to get up. I had 7 classes this semester and 6 for the next. Today I had Economics and Public Speaking, which I had a feeling that those would be my easiest classes.

I stayed in bed for another ten minutes before deciding to finally get up. I put on my glasses and made my way to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, did my hair and applied some lipgloss on. I got dressed in a crew neck sweatshirt and denim shorts, then put on some high top converses.

I stuffed my laptop and pencil case into my backpack. And off to class I went.

•••

I'm walked into the lecture hall for my Econ class with Evie. There were about 15 students already in here, but with the amount of chairs I expected about 40 more to arrive, as usual I was pretty earlier. I scanned the room to see a girl sitting alone near the middle of the class, possibly waiting for someone to meet her. She had shoulder length curly hair and tan skin; she looked so pretty.

We made eye contact and she smiled, so we decided to walk up to her. "Come one Evie let's sit over here."

Evie followed behind as we walked to the girl. "Are these seats taken?"

She shook her head. "Nope."

As we sat down she introduced herself. "Hey I'm Daniella, but everyone calls my Dani."

Evie chimed in. "Hey I'm Evelyn or Evie."

"Hey. I'm Valentina or Aubrey. It doesn't really matter," I laughed.

She looked puzzled. "Why's that?"

"Well my parents are from Italy, and named me Valentina Aurora. While I was living here for a few years people called me Aubrey and it just stuck with me. It's kinda confusing actually," I answer, partially lying.

Just as she was about to ask something else the door opened up revealing four guys, who all looked quite intimidating. Well, only one of them because he had A LOT of tattoos. On either side of him was Tyler and another two boys.

The guy in the middle with a lot of tattoos, was built pretty muscular. He was about 6'4" and had pale skin, dark brown hair and silver eyes. He looked like one of the guys in my dad's gang— not to judge a book by its cover. To his left was a guy with tan skin, dark brown curls and brown eyes. He was a little shorter than Mr. Tattoos, but taller than Tyler. And then there was the most innocent one of all, he looked maybe Brazilian, but had a baby face.

After analyzing them for too many seconds too long, I realized they were heading in our direction. Dani got up and hugged the one of them. "Hey Jayden."

"Hello to you to Dani."

By the way they hugged each other, I could tell they were siblings.

I was caught off guard by someone sitting beside me, taping my shoulder. "Hey, I'm Bennet, Ben for short. Who are you," he greeted, very flirtatious might I add.

I gave him an unamused look. "I'm Valentina, or Aubrey. You get to decide."

"Is that supposed to be a joke?" He laughed.

I rolled my eyes. "Does it look like I'm joking to you?"

My blue eyes stared at him unemotionally. He looked scared for a second. Indeed, Mr. Pretty Face Boy Ben looked scared. Everyone around us was staring at us, waiting for him to say something. But then I started to burst into laughter.

"Y-you're... face," I said in between laughs.

He paled. "Ha ha ha. You're funn-yyy."

He got up and switched places with Tyler. "Nice one Aub."

"Thank you Tyler," I laughed with a high five.

I looked around me and saw some pretty cool people. Well Maddox being the exception— he kept staring at me weirdly, making me feel a bit uneasy.

"Hey Aubrey. This is my twin brother Jay, you just scared Bennet. Brooding Face Maddox King is him, and you've seemed to have met Tyler already," laughed Dani, as she introduced me to the group.

"Caio," I said.

Maddox looked up at me, almost if he put the pieces of a puzzle together. "Your family is from Italy right? You have a brother named... Lorenzo?"

My face probably looked shocked right about now. "How would you know that, you tattooed freak?!"

"I have my ways ," he answered in French.

Lucky for me I took French freshman and sophomore year. "I will figure out what you're hiding Maddox King"

He shrugged his shoulders and I looked away from him, only to realize that everyone was staring at us, probably wondering what we just said.

I broke the silence. "Um, this is my friend Evie."

Ben laughed awkwardly. "We know.."

Tyler was about to say something but then the teacher walked in. "I'm Professor Adams. Let's get this class started."
