2 | Catching Up

I'm a complete idiot.

He was drunk! He wasn't going to remember the kiss... only I would. This wasn't supposed to happen. This year was supposed to be a new start to the new me, but with Tyler here it's just not the same. I knew I should've just rented an apartment but no, I had to chose to live in the dorms.

After we kissed he immediately fell asleep on my shoulder so I used all the strength I had to push him into his bed. I shook my head and went to bed.

A few hours later my alarm clock rang. I sprang out of my bed quickly, feeling sticky from the sweat that covered my body. I still had the nightmares of what I did all those months back.

6:00 a.m.

Ugh, well time to head to the gym. Tyler was sound asleep so I got dressed quickly in black running shorts, a Nike sports bra and sneakers. I quickly put a water bottle and some pain reliever next to Tyler's desk. I then threw on a hoodie and walked out with my water and keys.

I jogged to the boxing gym off campus in about twenty minutes and headed towards the locker room.

"Hello Damon. How's everything?"

"Caio V. Everything's fine in Italy. How is school?"

I sigh. "It's going okay. Got some training done and I have my first classes tomorrow."

We converse for a little while and he lets me know he'll be back in America in a few weeks to teach me a few things in person. I take a few more punches to the bag, trying to perfect my technique.

I walk back to the dorm hall at around 9 in the morning. Music was blasting in my ears and me not paying attention led me to running into someone and landing flat on my butt.

"Cazzo! Ho bisogno di indossare gli occhiali più spesso," I scold myself, quickly getting up. (Fûck! I need to wear my glasses more often)

"Sorry."

I look at the person I ran into and oh goody, it was Tyler.

"Oh hey Tyler. Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going."

He shakes his head. "No it is all good. Thanks for the medicine uh... I don't even remember how I got back so thank you..."

I nod my head in acknowledgment. "Yeah, no problem." I start my way back until Tyler speaks up. 

"Hey! Um... do you want to talk later and catch up, I am going to the gym right now but after?"

"Uh sure."

I walk back to the dorm room and get my things to go take a shower. After doing everything I need to do, I french braid my hair and put on a little makeup. I then get dressed in a yellow sun dress and white platform sandals.

While I wait for Tyler I call Lorenzo and he tells me all about Boston and his girlfriend, Cecilia. They've been dating for months now, ever since I went to Italy for the first time and walked in on them. Ugh, gross.

Tyler Sanders

After finishing up at the gym, I go straight to the dorm bathrooms and take a shower and get dressed.

I can't believe she's actually my roommate. I was expecting some random girl when I walked into the room and saw all of the stuff sprawled around the right side of the dorm. I was about to change rooms, but now I'm really not too sure.

My feelings never changed for her. Yeah, she and Antonio left me all alone but it was for good reason. I know that their dad is a huge business man in Italy and America but I still have no idea why she was taken in the first place. I'm just glad she's okay, well better than okay. When I saw her I was in shock. She changed a lot since I've last seen her, but I can tell how happy she is.

But damn, when she walked in on me and this girl, Kaylee, I felt so disgusted in myself. So I got drunk at a party trying to forget my mistake. Great first impression, Tyler, great first impression. She probably had to see me stumble into the room like a dumbasś.

I tie the laces of my air forces and take the stairs to the dorm. I slide my card in the slot and see Aubrey laying on her bed, talking on the phone.

"Caio Lorenzo. I love you and be safe in Boston," she says, "... It's not like that... Non voglio rimanere incinta!... Okay stop it now bye..." (I'm not going to get pregnant!)

She looks up at me and smiles. "Hey, ready to go?"

"Yea, I know this really good brunch place on campus," I start.

"Sounds good," she states before jumping off the bed and walking out the door. I walk next to her and we make small talk until we get there.

"I'll get the chocolate chip pancakes with extra whip cream... with a side of bacon," Aubrey tells the waitress.

The waitress the looks at me and asks, "And for you?"

"I'll get the omelette with hash browns and a glass of orange juice."

She finishes writing on her notepad before leaving us at the table alone.

"So how's life been Aubrey, or should I call you Valentina?"

She laughs. "I prefer either one. But life's been good since everything. I learned a new language, graduated early to get here and became a lot healthier with time."

Wow, she's beautiful. "I-Um I am really happy for you. I'm glad you got out of your... situation. I really missed you," I stutter with a smile.

She slightly smirks. "You did? Well I missed you a lot too. My life has been pretty hectic lately. Um— do you know where Maia went for college?"

She missed me too.

Come on Tyler get a grip. "She went to Berkeley. She was sad after you left. I'll give you her number."

She smiled. "Thanks Ty. So how's your life been."

"It has been good. I am here on a football scholarship and yeah. After you and Tony left I had to make some other friends but senior year flew by pretty quickly."

We continued to catch up with each other and soon our food arrived at the table. Classes started in a week, right after Labor Day, and it was time to enjoy everything before I get to learn the ins and outs of business so I can run my Dad's stocks company. Yipeee!

Since when have you ever said "yipee" Tyler.

"Ready to go?"

She smiles. "Yea lets go."

Hey everyone. I'm sorry for disappearing for two months I was trying to keep my grades up and take finals and school stuff but I'm back now. I have all my ideas planned out and I'm excited to write more of this sequel.
