Maddox King

I can't believe had that little fūcker talk me out of asking her out. Since when have I backed down from chasing something I wanted, no needed.

Valentina has a past, a story that Tyler will never be able to understand. She was taken out of her home and abused by a gang that had too much power. If only he knew the real truth....

My father, William King, is originally from France. He met my mother, Cara Quinn, on a trip to Norway. They fell in love in that first week at the young ages of 18 and 17. They moved to America to start a life together. A few years of struggling and my father built a large company called King Incorporated. A year later and he discovered how to bring in extra money— to create a gang and build his strength. I was born February 14, 2000 and my sister was born the next year on December 1, 2001. He soon became one of the most wealthy people in all of The United States by 2004. We were raised separately from the violence, but as we grew up we learned more and more about our dad's business.

At the age of sixteen my dad started training me more vigorously. Before it was self defense classes, workouts and kickboxing. When I turned 18, I took over the gang side of things, all while trying to keep up with college so I can run the business side of things. My father helps most of the time, but I'm learning and in the next year everything will be my responsibility.

My father helped search for Valentina around 2010. He just became allies with the Strikers and searched rural areas and small towns. He had no luck but made sure to keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior.

Maybe I should stop laying down in my bed and meet everyone at the gang house. I needed to take my mind off things, off of her.

"Dude, get your asś up. You've been laying here since yesterday morning and missed your training session," ordered Caleb.

I huffed. "How did you get into my apartment?"

"You left the key in the light fixture, idiot," he laughed.

I forgot I did that... Anyway, I got up and showered. I put on a white t-shirt, black jeans and black boots. I threw on a black hoodie and met Caleb at the door.

"Let's go."

"What's got you in such a bad mood Maddox," teases my sister, Kelsey.

I grunted. "Nothin'. I'm fine."

Caleb patted my shoulder as he walked by me. "Someone has a crush."

"Don't fūcking call it that. I'm attracted to this girl but it could never happen," I said as I sat on the couch.

Kelsey sat beside me and gave me a sympathetic look. "Never say never. You don't know what could happen. Maybe you should just talk to her."

"Maybe I will. Just not right now, I'll go on my way home."

Caleb then started to clap his hands sarcastically. "Bravo. Now you need to go to your training session or Mr. King might just kick my asš."

I got up and started making my way downstairs to change and head to the gym.

After my session, I met up with my father and got a wonderful lecture on everything I supposedly do wrong.

I tried my beta to listen but I only had one thing in my mind, Valentina.

When he stopped his banter I asked him a question. "Dad?"

"Yes?"

I scratched the back of my neck. "Uh How did— never mind."

My dad put down his pen. "No tell me Maddox. I know I give you a hard time sometimes, but I still care about you. Now, tell me what's on your mind—you've always been so closed off... Damn I sound like your mother."

I laughed, then I started to tell him what was wrong. "Well, I um I think... No. I know that I really like this girl. But I was stupid and didn't make a move when I could've. I sorta have some competition."

"Who's this girl you speak so highly of?"

I sighed. "Her name is Valentina Romano."

"You mean Stefano's daughter. The one he found with the Russians last year?" He asked shocked.

"Well yea?"

He then smiled. "My son, ever since you were young and wanted something, you went for it. No one would stop you. Now, why has that mentality changed now. You want her, show her how much you do. Don't let some other fool get in your way. I'll just remind you, be careful of Stefano. He'll break you in two if you ever hurt her. Now, shoo go get her."

I nodded my head. "Bye and thanks."

I walked up to the dorm room door with jittery fingers and knocked quickly.

The door opened smoothly and on the other side of the door was Valentina. She had on a T-shirt that was wrinkled, her hair was a bit disheveled and her lips were rosy and swollen almost as if she had been making out with someone.

"Hey," she said quietly.

"Who's at the door babe," asked a familiar voice from the inside.

Just when she was about to answer, a pair of stupid fūcking pale aśs arms came around her waist, and he kissed the top of her head.

"Hey, King," he said.

I seethed. "Tyler..."
