7 | Woah

On the car ride to Maddox's place I learned that him and Caleb were next door neighbors. Caleb and him worked in the same family business, since they were cousins. Finally, we arrived at the building and I jumped out the car. Well not really since I was around 5'10" but you get the point.

9:15 a.m

"I have 45 minutes now. And we are a twenty five minute drive from UCLA with traffic so in reality I have 20 minutes... COME ON!"

Caleb cringed when I yelled. "Okay okay. We get it, you can't be late. You heard that Maddox. Get your key!"

Maddox rolled his eyes but unlocked his door.

"Okay so the shower is the first door on your left and there's towels in the cabinet next to the sink," he explained as I ran towards the bathroom door.

He gave him a quick glance. "Thanks Maddox," and then I shut the door behind me.

I struggled to turn on the shower but once I got it I finally got undressed. Hopefully he had something I could change into, otherwise I would just have to put on these sweaty clothes.

I dipped my fingers to check it the water was warm, and when it was warm I hopped in, closing the glass behind me. Inside I found some body wash so I quickly cleaned myself. I couldn't help but like how I smelt like Maddox. No, no no no Valentina! You're here for school and that's it. You are NOT going to fall in love. You are too strong to let your guard down, especially when someone could snatch you away like they did I didn't feel like washing my hair, so I left it untouched.

I tried to turn off the shower but after a few tries I completely failed. Stupid knobs. For now, I stepped out the shower doors and reached for a towel.

A gust of wind blew and when I looked up the door was wide open and I saw Maddox.

Freaking Maddox Mikkel King (I kindly asked him what his middle name was around a month ago) WAS STARING AT MY NAKED BODY. All my scars, from the cigarette burns to the knife and gun wounds to the self inflicted cuts of my past, we're on full display. I wasn't necessarily the most body positive person, especially being so tall and slightly curvy, but that didn't mean I wanted to be stared at. We all have our insecurities if we like to admit it or not.

"Woah," is the only word that came out of his mouth.

Realizing I was still naked, I wrapped the gray towel around me frantically and looked up at him. "What the hell?!"

"I-Uh. Here's some clothes. I thought you were still in the shower? Anyway... do you need me to shut it off Val?" He smirked, pointing to the running water.

Arrogant bastard.

I took a deep breath to keep myself calm. "That would be nice, seeing as I have like ten minutes to get to class for my test and pack."

He nodded his head. "Sure."

He walked past me, gently brushing my arm, and shut it off. As he pulled away he whispered into my ear. "You're beautiful."

And with that he walked away.

Maddox King

"Thank you Maddox," she smiled as she walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

She was cute, I wasn't gonna lie to myself, but I don't date, I do the random hookups and one night stands. I've got other important things to do, like graduate and run my gang. Either way, Tyler was really adamant about dating her. They seemed like they had a thing going on and I wasn't gonna get in the middle of that.

Carlos barged through my apartment door like he owned the fūcking place and sat down at the kitchen table. "She's a keeper, huh?"

I really don't understand how this idiot is related to me. "She's... something else. You know, her father is Stefano Romano right? She is Valentina Romano, the one who was kidnapped by those Russians. Keep up with the program," I explained as he obnoxiously bit into an apple.

"So what? You run the biggest American Gang, you are allies with her dad! You'd be perfect together dude."

I shrugged my shoulders. "It's whatever man, I'm not looking for anything. I got to get her some clothes, I'll be back."

I walked into my guest room and looked through a drawer filled with some of my sisters clothes. I grabbed some black stretchy pants, I think girls call the leggings or some shít. It looked kinda cloudy outside so I grabbed one of my hoodies since all my sister left around were her old tank tops.

I remember my sister left an unopened pack of undergarments since she lost the receipt and grabbed that too. I then made my way to the bathroom, and heard the water still running. I opened the door to put the clothes in here for her but was star struck to see her out the shower, naked.

I was slightly startled by the scars but that's not what I was really looking at. She was so beautiful, she had lean muscular legs that went in for miles and full hips. She had a toned stomach and round, perky breâsts. And her gorgeous face...

Quit it Maddox, stop looking. She's a human just like you, idiot.

"Woah," were the accidental words that slipped out of my mouth.

She looked almost mortified as she wrapped the towel around her body. "What the hell?!"

Play it cool, King. Play it cool...

"I-Uh. Here's some clothes. I thought you were still in the shower? Anyway... do you need me to shut it off Val?" I smirked, trying to play off the stutter from a few seconds ago.

She took a deep breath, looking at me rather annoyed. "That would be nice, seeing as I have like ten minutes to get to class for my test."

I nodded my head. "Sure."

I walked past her, gently brushing my arm against her shoulder and shut it off. As I pulled away, I decided to whisper into her ear. "You're beautiful."

I'm the biggest idiot in the world.

And with that I walked away.
