It was almost valentine's day and seeing all the happy couples around made me feel really lonely. I was walking to a coffee shop near my home with syd when he noticed this.

"Hey, (yn)" he said and put his arm around me. "Why do you look so sad?"

"Well, I've never been to happy around valentine's day because I've never had somone to spend it with" I explained.

"Well, maybe this year you could spend it with me?" He suggested.

"well, syd, to be honest I... am kinda gay for you" I said (or if you're female you just say "crushing on you")

Syd blushed. "That's great." He said and hugged me.

"I can't go to the school dance though. There's too many people who would pick on me there" I told him.

"That's alright, (yn)" he said. "We can just skip the dance and hang out around town or at home together. Whichever works"

"That sounds great" I Said.

We walked holding hands to the coffee shop and back.

Valentines day

Valentines day was finally here. I woke up to the sound of sizzling bacon coming from the kitchen. I got up to get some to eat. Syd was making bacon and eggs on the stove and humming to himself.

"Good morning, (yn)!" He said when he saw me and kissed my cheek. "I'm making some breakfast, do you want some?" He asked.

"Sure" I said. I took a bite of bacon and tried my best to not cringe. It was probably the worst bacon I'd ever tasted in my life. But I didn't want to hurt syd's feelings so I nodded and said "this is pretty good".

He smiled. "You wanna have some breakfast?"

"Uhh you know what? I'm not all that hungry right now, and I gotta get to school so we better head out" I said.

"Ok" he said and sighed. "I was really hoping you'd try everything I'd made" he said sadly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, syd" I said. "You know, maybe we can just skip school today?" I suggested. It was then when my mom came into the room.

"(Yn)!!!! She looked at me with suprise. "When did you ever learn to cook?" She asked. Syd winked.

"No one can see me but you" he said. I winked back.

"Oh, I uh, was looking at some recipes online and thought I'd try some" I said and handed her a peice of bacon. "Wanna try?"

She took it and bit into it, and made a sour face.

"(Yn) this is really burnt." She said. "And I think the pork you used is expired at least a year." She spit it out into the trash. I looked at syd and he seemed really hurt by this.

"Hey mom I gotta get to school okay? Love you" I said and syd and I walked out the door. As soon as it closed behind us I looked at him.

"What do you wanna do on our day off?" I asked.

"Is wanna buy you some more flowers, personally" he said.

"How are you gonna do that if no one can see you?"

"Don't worry, I can show myself to humans in whatever form I want" he said.

We walked to the flower shop and he made himself visible to everyone else. His wings and halo dissappeared and his eyes become normal human eyes.

I watched as he walked up to the counter. "I'd like an arrangement of flowers for somone I love" he told the lady at the desk. I sold feel my face get warm. I must be blushing, I thought.

"...and be sure to throw in a couple flowers that really compliment their (yec) eyes" he mentioned. I couldn't stop myself from smiling. He looked back at me and smiled. The lady arranged some flowers and handed them to him and he smelled them before giving them to me as we walked out.

"I love the smell of flowers" Syd said.

"Me too" I said.

Syd morphed back into his fallen angel form and flew up into a tree. I laughed.

"What are you doing up there?" I asked him.

"Look at these baby birds!" They're so cuute!!" He hollered to me.

"Don't touch them you'll get your human scent on them and the mama will abandon it" I told him.

"I don't have a scent, I'm a soul, remember?" He said.

"Oh yah"

He came down with a baby bird in his hands. "Can I keep it? Please? It's really really cute" he begged.

"Sure just make sure you take care of it, and don't let it get too cold" I said

"Yay!"

We went back to my house since my mom had left for work already and didn't get off work until 5:00. I made him a bagel and we cuddled on the couch and watched reality TV shows. The usual stuff was on, house renovation, celebrity drama, fashion, but then it all went downhill when an infomercial came on for the newest dishwasher on the market.

"This is so stupid" Syd said. I agreed. "Who needs a dishwasher like that?"

But then we watched more and more of it and by the time it was over syd was on the phone dialing.

"Syd who are you calling?" I asked him. He shushed me. "No really tell me who it is" I said.

"I'm calling the dishwasher company" he said. "We need one of those, It could be really useful"

"No, we don't need a new dishwasher" I said and facepalmed. Syd pouted and put the phone back down.

"Finee" he said. "Oh hey, I'm gonna make some food okay? You sit down I'll make something to eat"

"NONO nonono no no"

"What's wrong?" He asked. "Do- do you not like my food?"

"No, it's not that.. it's just... well... you already made breakfast this morning, so I thought maybe I could make some food on return" I said. He nodded and sat down on the couch. I toasted a bagel and put cream cheese and jelly on it then cut it in half and gave part of it to syd. He bit into it.

"Mmmmmmmm this is really good" he said.

"Thanks" I said. "Wanna watch a movie?" I asked him. He chose a movie from the DVD shelf and we watched it and ate popcorn and when it was over we ate bagels and talked until my mom came home. It was the best valentine's day I'd ever had.
