My eyes darted towards the familiar voice like we were being pulled together like magnets. Stood in the doorway of his room was Harry. His body looked extremely attractive, my heart started pounding against my rib cage, his icy blue eyes piercing into me, his dark brown hair was slightly longer than the last time we had seen each other. His shoulders were broad and his t shirt clung to his body, he must of been working out during the time he was at college. His smile was beaming showing his brilliant white teeth. I was surprised that he was here.
"You might want to wipe the dribble.. there" he spoke, lifting his index finger up to the side of his mouth and softly touching it indicating a wiping motion. My eyes were fixated on him, it was like we were in our own little world, just us. Me and him.
"Hey" I whispered as if the wind in my body was being knocked out of me. My face started becoming red, my green eyes softened and I carved a small smile from my now dry lips. He waltzed over to me graciously stopping in front and towering over me, bringing me into his embrace. His cologne clouded me and sucked me in. My arms found themselves wrapping around him and his arms were doubling over each other as he held me close.
"You know I'm standing right here" Poppie said whilst making a fake coughing noise. My eyes widened realising what I was doing. I hugged him a couple minutes more than I should have. My arms dropped to my sides and I took a step backwards, his smile was still cocky as usual.
Harry was the first guy I had a crush on, I still remember that day like it happened yesterday.
"Are you sure that I'm allowed round your's Poppie?" Her mum just picked us up from school and it was my first visit to a friends house. Poppie was the first friend I made, I had always just stuck to myself and not bother with anyone else.
"Yeah I'm sure" she spoke with a happy tone. Whilst fiddling around with her fingers and kicking her legs in the back seats where we sat. I could tell that she was nervous like I was.
I got out the car and looked at her house in amazement, it looked beautiful. I shut the car door and walked towards her front door, the gnomes that were placed in the front garden near the door scared me. I tore my eyes away from them in horror, Poppie started laughing at me because of the face I pulled. We entered the house as her mum unlocked the door.
I stepped inside my eyes wandered around and took everything in, the inside looked more welcoming and homey than the outside, everything was tidy and neat. The hallway was coated in a cream colour and the soft brown carpet lead up the stairs. There was photos hanging on the walls of previous school pictures and family photos. The polished wood flooring had a slightly rectangle brown carpet running throughout the hallway.
"Come on Alice" Poppie pulled my arm and dragged me around the house giving me a tour of everything, the upstairs was the same colour as downstairs, cream and brown. The bathroom was a light blue and grey colour with matching towels.
Poppies bedroom was fit for a princess, her walls were white and baby pink, her chest of draws and wardrobe matched the colour scheme, my mouth dropped when my eyes met her bed, her bed was a four poster bed with a pink sash draped over the posts, it was like I walked into a fairy-tale.
She purposely avoided two rooms, her mother's and her brother's. After showing me the inside of her house she suggested we go into the garden to play as it was a nice day. I walked through the kitchen that was coloured black, lime green and white, the front of the cupboards were shiny and clean. I smiled at her mum that was chopping and preparing the food and strolled past her quietly. I stepped outside after Poppie opened the door leading into the garden.
The garden was big the grass was greener than my own, to the right, she saw that her mum was growing her own vegetables and flowers, the patch had labels indicating which vegetables were what and what flowers were which. I tried to grow my own vegetables once but failed miserably.
The rest of the garden was peaceful, nothing was out of the ordinary, it was tidy just like the house, I was expecting some toys to be laying around the yard and the house but nothing. I walked farther into the garden and didn't realise where I was going, I tripped on a slab that was placed as a path, just before I fell completely to the ground I felt a hand grab my arm and yanked me. That was when I first met Harry.
"Woah, be careful" he spoke, holding onto my arm and making sure I didn't lose my balance as I tried to stand up properly. His eyes were warming and gentle, his smile was charming. l fell for him instantly.
Every time I went over to Poppie's me and her brother would talk for ages and laugh at each other when we made funny faces at the dinner table. As we got older we played different games like charades, me and Harry was the perfect team, no matter who Poppie teamed up with she always lost. When we played hide and seek he use to try and hide in the same spot as me, our bodies touching, my heart racing, my face pink. He stayed calm throughout all it.
We stopped playing these games when he applied for college and started hanging around his friends more. Three days before he had to leave, he held my hand for the first time in ages and it sent sparks through my entire body. He only touched me because he pulled me away from these group of guys at a fair we had went to. It felt amazing that he still protected me.
The day before he left, I was on my way to Poppie's house to say goodbye to him and wish him luck. Instead I found him locking lips with a skinny black haired girl, the same girl that was dating Dylan at the time. I thought it would crush me because I was in to him but I felt nothing, I smiled at him and the girl without them noticing me and I walked away. Later that night I text her brother saying I was sorry I couldn't be there and wished him luck.
"It sure has been a long time Harry."
"Sure has." He spoke ruffling my hair so it stuck up in all kinds of directions.
I laughed at him while I was trying to straighten my hair back to how it was, just before I could speak to him, I felt Poppie's hand grab my forearm and tugged me towards her room. I smiled and waved to him and he did the same back until Poppie gave him this nasty look that she gives people when she's annoyed, or when she's around her brother when she doesn't want him to talk about something.
"What was that about?" I asked her raising one of my eyebrows. She slammed the door shut, turned and looked at me like she wanted to tell me something, she stood there for a brief moment before letting out a huff.
"Its nothing, dont worry about it" she spoke lightly. She brushed past me and dove right onto her king sized bed. I didn't push for an answer because I know if I pushed she would get angry and I didn't want that. I hated it when she was angry. Me and Harry joked one time saying she would turn into the hulk one day if she didn't calm down, we laughed for what seemed like hours.
I shrugged my shoulders and decided to join her, as I jumped onto the bed I bumped heads with her and we laughed whilst rubbing the sore spots. After we stopped laughing we sat up crossing our legs and taking sips of our water.
"So.. Alice" she sounded like she was trying to hire me for a job with that tone. I laughed to myself.
"Now that we're here are you going to tell me about your amazing gossip, that you made me wait all day for" she started shuffling around on the bed to get comfortable, and tied up her lovely red hair.
"Okay, okay. What do you want to know pops?"
"Lets see, umm, how about we start with, where are you moving too?"
I tried to listen to see if Harry wasn't hovering outside once I knew that he wasn't, I took a deep breath and looked down, closing my eyes. My breath hitched and my palms started sweating. Why was this so hard to spit out. Why was I so nervous. I bit the inside of my cheek until I could taste a slight tinge of blood.
"America" I whispered.
