When I woke, my room was still dark and the sun was not showing through the curtains. I leaned over to grab my phone from the bedside table and had a look at the time. It was 2pm, how could this be? Why is it so dark? And how did I sleep this long?

I got up out of bed and walked over to the curtains, I pulled them to the side and stared out of the window. It was pouring down. The sidewalk, the houses, everything was wet, the rain was coming down fast and hard. Why of all days does it have to rain when I have a date today.

I walked down the stairs wrapping my dressing gown around my body.

"You're up late." My mother said putting her coffee cup down and looking up from her laptop.

"Yeah, I don't know why." I responded.

"Maybe you're growing?" She laughed.

I glared at her before grabbing the granola from the cupboard, the berries and yogurt from the fridge and shoving it into a bowl. I got the spoon from the draw and dug it into the food and placed it into my mouth.

The vanilla taste from the yogurt was rich and creamy, the granola was crunchy with every bite and the berries, shot bursts of flavour filling my mouth with happiness.

"I thought you were working today?" I asked.

"No, I get to stay here this weekend and enjoy spending time with my one and only daughter."

"Yeah I'm not buying that. Plus I have a date today.. if he is still willing to because of the weather." I spoke filling a glass up with orange juice.

"A date? With who?" She sounded shocked.

"With this guy."

"Is it Dylan?"

"Mum, no it's not Dylan. His name is Blake." I huffed and placed my bowl into the sink.

"Where is he taking you?" She sounded concerned.

"Out for a meal at some place."

She sat there and nodded her head as if she was thinking whether to allow this to happen. I paced myself back up the stairs and jumped into the shower.

I've only got two hours left for my date so I decided to have a very much appreciated long bath and decided to get ready slowly.

Two hours passed just like that and Blake still hadn't messaged me back or even called me. I started to get worried in case he wouldn't show.

I was sitting down stairs in the living room, waiting for Blake to come. Three hours passed by after we agreed to meet. I had already taken off my boots and the movie was finishing when the doorbell rang. I got up and walked over slowly.

"Hey."

Standing on the porch in front of my eyes.. was Harry?

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

"I just wanted to hang out like old times."

"Well it's late and I have a date that will be here any moment." I bluffed.

"Oh you mean Blake?"

I uncrossed my arms and stared at him, how did he know Blake? Harry stood in the doorway with a sad look on his face.

"I don't think he is coming Alice."

"You don't know that." I said looking down at the floor.

Harry took a step towards me and placed his hand onto my arm. At the touch of his hand my body froze, I felt like I was going to cry. Did Blake sent him here to say it was all a joke? That he was playing me? I may have not known him but being stood up still hurts.
