Chapter Twenty-One

Chapter Twenty-One - Choices

3rd Person 

"Now you have a choice to make John." The devil cocked his head causing it to crack. 

"You can either save Raymond, or you can say your beloved Astra." 

John gave Pandora a sincere as she returned the same one. She knew that Astra had meant everything to John. On one side of the staircase Ray appeared, on the other appeared Astra as the little child she had been. 

"John! John!" The voice of Astra filled the room. 

Pandora knew how much this must've hurt John, so she entwined her hand with his giving it, a gentle squeeze letting him know no matter what he decided she would support him. 

"Make your choice quick Constantine." Lucifer's voice was filled with aggravation.

"Astra, I choose Astra." This caused Pandora to tense up because, the girl turned into an adult as she walked towards John. 

The girl, Astra slapped John straight in the face causing her to yell, "You let me rot in hell you bastard!"

John cocked his head back as he heard the screams of his Pandora being dragged away by two demons, and soon after he was dragged back too.  

As John was strapped down to the room next to him he couldn't help but shiver as he heard her screams getting increasingly louder. The one demon kept trying to get some reaction from John but failed, as the only thing hurting him right now was the fear of hatred that would soon come from Pandora. He knew that this was all his fault, she was getting tortured in hell because of him. 

She never really had a choice in the matter, she loved him and therefor would do anything and everything to protect John, even if it meant walking through literal hell for him. 

The knife went deeper and deeper into John's stomach he gasped in pain as the demon torturing him twisted the knife. 

*Pandora's Pov*

I think I was beginning to lose my voice from how much I was screaming, I've never really gotten tortured before and it hurt like a bitch. I know John must've been in the room beside me because every now and again I'd hear someone scream "bloody hell!". 

Getting stabbed and pricked with knives isn't exactly what I had in mind when I got involved with John Constantine. What I did have in mind was helping sending demons back to hell with the occasional injury. It was in that moment I realized I'd do just about anything for him. 

I kept wincing in pain when the man that was torturing me had finally stopped, and I turned to see the face of Nora in the fairy god mother's dress and John standing next to her. 

He ran over and unstrapped me from the table, helping me to my feet Nora glanced at the blood of my lower level. 

"Pandora, I'm so sorry. However we have to get Ray's soul and get out of here." Her voice was sympathetic as John was applying pressure to his wound. 

We were lucky enough to get Astra's help into the soul exchange factory in hell. As we entered the back room it was filled with coins, John and I started with the table of coins while Astra looked around the room. 

In the mist of looking I found a coin that said, Ace Johnston. This was all my fault, if he never met me he would've never ended up like this, I thought to myself. John was still searching for Ray's 'soul' coin as I put the one that was engraved with Ace's name in my back pocket.  

"Bloody hell, I finally found it!" John exclaimed holding up the coin with Ray's engraved on it.

I saw a smile creep up on Nora's face, as she waved her wand and we were back at the Time Bureau. I glanced around as it looked like things were getting back to normal here, and I got the stares from the rest of the legends. 

I had just lost our baby, and the first thing I was concerned about was John. He might've thought he wasn't dad material but, he still would've been an amazing father. 

"Guys, I'm okay seriously. We got Ray's coin, but it won't work until after Neron is gone." I explained while scratching the back of my head. 

John gripped onto my hand and began to speak, "She's had enough for today..You guys find out a plan and let us know. We are going to head back to the Waverider so I can clean her up."

They nodded their heads in agreement as we used Ava's time courier to open a portal back onto the ship. 

I quickly let go of John's hand and made my way to the bathroom, it felt like everything was going to collapse; waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I heard footsteps coming after me and following me into the bathroom, and of course it was him. 

"Love, listen I know you're not alright." His voice was soft as he try to give a little smile.

"I was so scared, yet excited to tell you John." 

"Why were you scared love?" His voice was saddened as he looked at his shoes. 

"I thought you'd be mad, you know because of Astra and I just didn't want to upset you." I confessed as he placed both his hands on the sides of my faces. He looked into my eyes as I felt his breath on my face.

"There is nothing you could ever do to upset me love, and Astra hit me pretty hard. However a baby with you, there's nothing that would make me happier." His voice was so smooth as he pressed his lips to mine. 

"I love you Johny."

"I love you Pandora."
