Deskwarming. Lots of other teachers that Y/N knew hated it. They complained, saying they'd rather watch Netflix at home and just not sit at their desks for eight hours while their students took tests.

But Y/N loved it. Home had too many distractions. There was nothing like being away from distractions and not wanting to seem lazy to force a person to invest in studying. She'd finished up her lesson plans an hour ago and the Korean book she was slowly making her way through was almost finished. More things to check off her list.

Her phone dinged and she ignored it at first, wanting to finish the page she was reading. But when she did she glanced over, feeling her heart....what was her heart feeling? She couldn't tell if it was excitement or dread or something else as she saw a notification that Jungkook had texted her. It was just a "hi". But he had.

She stared at the phone. He....had texted? Days had gone by and she had pretty much convinced herself, like everyone else, that he also found some mysterious thing about her off-putting and didn't want anymore contact.

Hello. Maybe there was some paperwork or something that had come up. But wait, wouldn't his manager be texting her then....?

What's up? Despite herself, she smiled a little. She had seen videos of him attempting to speak English in the past and he seemed to be very focused on learning slang.

At work. Studying.

What was she studying? Korean. It was a bunch of simple back and forth messages which didn't seem to have any point in mind. Y/N's gears were turning. She didn't like lolly-gagging around, her preference was always to get straight to the point.

Was there something you needed? It might come off as harsh but she didn't care.

No, I just wanted to talk and see how you were doing. But.....why? Maybe she should end this, tell him not to waste his time...

Do you want to hang out again soon? For Jungkook, he was feeling maybe he was being too forward but he was afraid of losing his nerve. Jimin was giggling and giving him encouragement, cheering him on, his face buried in Jungkook's shoulder. He found the whole thing so cute.

It took her longer to reply and Jungkook felt his heart in his throat a millisecond before he opened the message.

Sure. I'll pick this time. He breathed a sigh of relief and let his head loll back.

"This is emotionally traumatizing." He grumbled to the cooing Jimin who was mumbling something about Jungkook being all grown up now. Jimin just laughed in response.

From what he'd read in her file, the last thing Jungkook expected was for her to pick the Trickeye Museum. But he wasn't complaining, he was really looking forward to being there. This time he was here first and she was a little late.

"Hey." She said quietly through her mask, ducking her head at the swarms of people going by. "Let's move before someone recognizes you." Of course. Because even if he was trying to have a good time he had to remember that it could be ruined in an instant.

"So why'd you pick this?" He asked, genuinely curious. She shrugged.

"It seemed like something you'd like." He felt a small, funny feeling in his chest and he grinned underneath his mask. Maybe they could find things in common.

They had to wait for people to move on from certain areas so they could quickly take off their masks and snap a picture. Or rather, Y/N snapped pictures of Jungkook. And found herself laughing a lot at his antics.

The first time she laughed it was like music to his ears and he liked it. So he started trying to be goofier just to hear it. It was about halfway through the museum, when she'd finished snapping yet another picture of him, that he suddenly realized...

"Hey, do you want me to take some pictures of you?" She had been looking down at her phone, a smile on her face, but it dropped when he said that and she looked up, waving her hand in a dismissive gesture.

"No, that's fine."

"But we've mostly taken pictures of me. Don't you want some too?"

"I like taking pictures of things I see, I'm not big on taking pictures of myself." I'm not a natural at looking good and goofy at the same time. Like you. She thought to herself.

"Juuuuuuuust ooooooooneeeeeee......." Jungkook gave her puppy eyes and she felt her throat clench and disappointment in herself and not wanting to do something new flooded her body. She didn't answer verbally.

"This looks funny...." She turned to walk to the next exhibit and Jungkook stood there for a second, not sure what to do. Had he pushed it? Most people wanted their photos taken. They might be shy but with a little prodding they opened up. But....had he read Y/N wrong?
