Y/N had a death grip on his hand and...well...it hurt.
"They don't bite. Well...they won't bite you." She knew that, she knew he was right but....it's still terrifying to meet your spouse's parents for the first time. And they wanted to see her. They'd asked.
Jungkook's thumb rubbed the back of her hand soothingly as he knocked. Before Y/N could breathe she was enveloped in a hug.
"Oh my dear, so nice to finally meet you!"
"Nice to see you too, mom." He grumbled. But he got his hug and then he was happy.
"Dear, they're here!" Y/N bowed as she removed her shoes and meekly followed the older woman into the living room to greet her father-in-law. He smiled at her kindly and stood up, reaching out to shake her hand. To her shock, he bowed deeply to her.
"Thank you, my dear."
"Y-You're welcome."
"Won't you have a seat?"
'So, Y/N. Tell us about yourself." She didn't know where to start.
"Um...uh...I'm a teacher."
"Oh, an English teacher?" She nodded, gratefully accepting the cup of tea Jungkook's mother offered her.
"How long have you lived in Korea?"
"Only a couple of years."
"And you speak Korean so well." Jungkook's mother cooed. Y/N resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Her pronunciation sucked but she knew most Koreans were just happy a foreigner bothered to even attempt their language. This often resulted in statements like this that, in her opinion, weren't true. But she knew they came from a good place so she watched the cynicism. It was easy to become a bit of a snot when the whole world was interested in your culture. It could be hard to put yourself in the shoes of someone who loves their culture deeply and is excited when someone else recognizes its beauty as well.
"And does Jungkook treat you well?" Jungkook blushed a little, thinking of the sounds he'd had her up late last night making.
"Yes." Y/N said, completely straight-faced.
"He may be my son but if he steps out of line let me know. I'll back you up, dear." His mother smiled and he pouted, protectively wrapping an arm around Y/N.
"Hey now, I am a complete angel..."
"Boy, we raised you. Don't lie."
"I'm sure Jimin would have something to say about your statement..." Y/N muttered under her breath. Of all the boys, Jimin was the one she saw the most.
They stayed for dinner, talking long into the night before it was time to head to their hotel. They walked leisurely, enjoying the lights of Busan, their fingers intertwined.
"You know what I realized the other day?" Jungkook said suddenly.
"No, what?" Y/N was still craning her neck, looking up at a sign they were passing.
"I don't want a divorce."
"Oh, you just decided this?" She said teasingly.
"No, I've felt it for awhile, I just realized I was feeling it."
"You'll never want a divorce?" Jungkook stopped at the change in Y/N's voice. It had gone from teasing to small and vulnerable. He let go of her hand and wrapped his arms around her.
"Never. Anything that comes up, we'll work through it." He kissed the top of your head. "I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too." Her voice was more muffled cuz he was pressing her face into his chest but he still heard it and it made him grow all warm inside.
