Jungkook was nervous, his palms were sweaty. Everything had happened so fast. He had understood his duty as a son. He knew his father didn't want the secret getting out. Even if it was inconvenient for him, even if it was a sacrifice for him, his father had raised him and loved him and in Jungkook's mind this was just a small way he could repay his parents' for all they'd done for him.

But still. In real life he struggled to talk to women, although he was good at faking it if his hyungs were there. Now he was married. Bang PD had rushed him to headquarters after the mysterious new wife of his had left, assuring Jungkook that it was all on paper. They just had to get through tonight and things could go back to normal.

But tonight....tonight they had to convince the man they were meeting that the marriage was more than paper. That it was real. That Y/N had been there all along and the man had made a misstep, forcing Jungkook and Y/N into something they had eventually planned on getting to.

They had to be comfortable with each other. And Jungkook didn't even know what she looked like. Stupid but unavoidable, they had had uncancellable appointments with the media today. He'd been given a run-down of what to do and how to act but his head was spinning. He was young. Too young. He couldn't do this. He couldn't...

He wasn't ready to be a husband. Even if it was in name only.

They were meeting at Lotte Tower. The Dispatch man had bought out the whole viewing level. Jungkook had arrived at BigHit's headquarters so that his makeup artist and stylist could prep him. Jimin had come with him and was now rubbing the back of his neck gently, not saying anything, just allowing his presence to soothe his overthinking dongsaeng.

They had all been shocked by this turn of events but all were supportive of Jungkook's decision. And all, to one degree or another, were wondering how exactly marriage would affect the youngest of their group.

Jungkook knew his wife, that felt so weird to think, was somewhere here also. She was being prepped. Jungkook had been informed that she spoke decent Korean but there would be a translator provided for her just in case. Jungkook knew from first-hand experience how stressful it can be to converse in a second language under circumstances similar to this one. Sometimes your brain just fails. And they couldn't afford to have Y/N fail. Jungkook wasn't sure how she risked doing that exactly but his mind painted weird, wild scenarios, as happens when you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into.

It was almost time. He was watching the second hand on his Rolex watch tick away, Jimin gently rubbing his back to keep his breathing regular.

"Oh, wow. Shit." Jimin saw her first. Jungkook looked up and felt his breath and mind leave him.

She was gorgeous. She wore an emerald green pantsuit, ruched around the waist, with a v-dip in the neckline that revealed a hint of cleavage. Her hair was dark and cut short, in a wavy, 20s-ish inspired style. Her lips were a glossy, kissable pink and her eyes were smokey. Jungkook recognized the signature of Jimin's makeup artist on her face. She held a nude clutch that matched her pumps and dainty silver earrings dripped in a line from her ears. She was...he couldn't do anything.

She walked towards him, confidence exuding in every step, her comfort in her heels evident, the lines of her body a masterpiece. She stopped in front of him and extended her hand. Her lips moved but Jungkook didn't hear. He was staring. Just staring.

She was a goddess. And he felt his heart sink. He knew there were millions of women all over the world that would throw themselves at him if given the chance. He knew he looked good. But she was....so regal....and he was.....nervous and sweaty and second-guessing his decision....and was it too late to back out....

He felt Jimin clap his back and say his name but he was frozen.

Jimin sighed in sympathy and covered, extending a hand forward.

"It's nice to meet you. The stress is getting to him, please take care of him tonight." She nodded, eyes still on Jungkook, waiting for any reaction to herself.

Unbeknownst to both Jimin and Jungkook, Y/N felt the exact same way on the inside. This wasn't her world. She was uncomfortable around men. Now she had to convince a creep that she was in love with the man in front of her, thrilled to be married to him. To her Jungkook looked handsome and put-together, and she felt every inch of her insecurities under her skin.

But she wouldn't let it show.

Even when Jungkook just turned and walked away, mentally kicking himself. To him he had to escape, he needed to breathe. To her he was disgusted and resentful of marriage. Jimin followed him to try and smack him back to reality.

Well. She just had to get through tonight. And then hopefully never see Jungkook again.
