At some point in the night

I woke to a sudden bang and opened my eyes cautiously. I wasn't alone anymore, a gold shimmer circling could be seen the other side of the fence, looks like she was delivered while I was sleeping. But there was someone out there with us. I heard a splash and saw someone swim down with a knife, maybe he wouldn't see me? He was wearing a wetsuit with an oxygen tank. I realised who was under the mask, the man from earlier. I think his name was 'Windsor Ball'?

His glance went to our guest then he realised it wasn't me so he searched again. I was a statue in the dark, his blue eyes scanned the cave thoroughly, that's when he saw me. He came at me with the knife but I slid past him then under the fence scraping my back deeply but lily helped me get through before hugging me.

The water was tinted a light red with blood that was probably mine but it also meant that I could no longer see my enemy and also could less easily restrain myself. I pushed myself up on the fence staring into the water, it worried me that I couldn't see Windsor. He suddenly popped up out of the water facing the wrong way then got out then once again started scanning around "you do realise they have cameras in here right?"

he spun around smiling creepily "You. you know how to fight like a....a" I tilted my head "a woman? a 'monster'?" he stepped closer jabbing his finger at me "like a child" I smiled "well last time I aged, I was sixteen. Long story" I slowly slipped my hand around the back of my bra and gripped my knife but lily stopped me "the cameras" I let go of the blade "Aren't 'sirens' supposed to have legs?" I put a hand where my necklace once laid "only with a certain object, I gave mine to my boyfriend for safe keeping"

He started laughing as he cut himself with the knife hoping to look like I'd hurt him but once again he'd forgotten the cameras, the 24/7 surveillance that kept my sister and I safe. And so far we know who the victim looked like. I was just about to slip under the water "it's rude not to watch what could be a man's final moments, these could be the last things you see in this world?"

I shook my head "you've forgotten there's several cameras at different angles in this very room, of which all can see you clearly cutting yourself and me having nothing to do with it"

He smiled "mind control" lily spoke for me "what? That's not even a thing! Sirens have to sing or speak in a certain tone in order to control you, no one can control a human telepathically" I looked at my sister "and I suppose you would know so much little mermaid?! About this ferocious beast of a being?"

Lily copied my posture on the fence "yea I grew up with her! She's my sister! And just to clear the whole 'mermaid' thing up, I'm a siren. Mermaids can't be trusted...well most of them can't"

I covered my nose as the blood started to go to my head "What's wrong 'killer'? Squeamish?" I shook my head "when sirens smell blood...it makes it irresistible to not kill" I went back under and tried to find somewhere without blood but it was everywhere causing me to leave the crimson safety of the pool. I sat on the side taking deep breaths trying to regain my composure.

When I finally did, I looked up and Ball was no where to be found. In a split second, there was a rope around my neck cutting off all airways "so you're both monsters, well then I guess I'll just have to kill you both" I tried to pry the material away from my neck long enough to let out a scream but I couldn't "it's too bad really, you're actually kinda pretty"

My hands moved from the rope to the floor lifelessly as I pretended to be dead. I let the rest of me slump in a ghoulish way and my head dropped as he released me letting my body roughly sink to the bottom of the crimson substance "that takes care of one"

I opened my eyes knowing he would hurt lily but as soon as I got halfway under the fence, it was forced down into my stomach, that's when I let out a scream but his hand was clamped over my mouth "you're a good actor, I'll give you that but you still had a heartbeat. I aim to change that"

As the metal impaled me, I finally bit down on his finger with my sharpened teeth "knew it! You just can't resist the taste of blood!" I bit down harder until I felt the bone against my teeth, his screams could be heard but screaming meant less oxygen and less stabbing for me.

After a short while, he went up for air. I'd never smelled so much blood in one place before, but maybe this is where I die? I felt lily trying to move the fence but I was too deeply embedded in my stomach. She stopped after a while not wanting to cause any unnecessary pain. A little while later, I just remember blackness.
