As he left

As Raphael strolled into the distance, I turned to see Felix smirking deviously "Lightwood has requested a one on one training session with you, as soon as possible, he also says bring a staff" my face reflected his own "tell him I accept and will be with him in a few moments" Felix nodded as I walked into my room and closed the door, I was always up for a fight, especially with a guy.

I knew how to tire them but I think Alec has had a lot more training than the lost boys so I needed some new tricks. I quickly braided my hair and changed into the customary shadowhunter training gear which consisted of leggings, a tank top and trainers with a wooden staff, thankfully I'd brought one with me from neverland.

I ran a hand down my handiwork of hair putting it on my right shoulder, it's been a while since I was out of Nordic braids, it felt so strange not having them in or having my twin with me, but I couldn't endanger her like this. She was my sister!

If anything happened to her, Neverland knows what I'd do without her, I'd probably find the highest peak on the island and jump hoping peter wouldn't save my skin and give me the 'why would you do this?!' lecture until the day we left neverland and died which would be never so I'd get that talk for eternity. I held my stick behind my neck grinning "Riddle for you Lightwood, what do poor people have, rich people don't need, and if you eat it, you'll die?"

"Uh...? I don't know, enlighten me, my queen" I pointed the wooden weapon at him "the answer is...nothing, poor people have nothing, rich people don't need nothing and if you eat nothing, you'll die. And please, call me Thea" I saw a slight smile creep across his face "watch your back, she's not as defensless as she seems" I glanced at Felix "I wish I could say he's wrong, but why delay the inevitable?"

He stood weapon in hand "I like the way you think 'Thea'" he swung at me thinking I'd be off guard, but we had the same idea as i blocked him, he looked a little annoyed as a smile spread across his face "expecting to hit someone who trains lost boys for a living?" He narrowed his eyes so I took the opportunity to sweep my leg underneath him causing to fall

"I thought you were the Queen?" I shrugged a little "being Queen means doing more than wearing a crown and throwing bonfires" he tried to bring me down but I jumped "So where'd you learn to fight?" I parred his next swing "Athena Swan Jones" his eyes widened "Hook's daughter?" I winked "the one and only"

I hopped onto the top of my staff balancing then letting myself drop down the other side of him then catching it before the wood whacked his head "pirate" he gestured to me "shouldn't you be working against pan then?" I lifted my shirt showling the scar left by the death curse

"I got cursed, Pan bought my family time to find a cure, dad didn't like that I was weak and left alone with Pan but instead of harming me further, he crowned me as the first lost girl, when my family found the cure and wanted me to go home, I didn't want to go but they forced me. Once I was gone nothing felt right, I started getting nightmares, they told me to head to a new town for a 'fresh start' but nothing changed."

I took a swing at his side "I needed the rustic youth of Neverland, parties every night, no one judges the girl in the deer mask or the boy with the pipes. But everyone had the courage to pick on the 'girl who dared to believe'. Soon enough Pan came for me, and took some kids with us, my family think I'm still in that town"

He gestured to his face "still doesn't explain 'that'" I chuckled "it's ok, it was in a car accident, apparently I'm not a very good runaway driver. I hit something and went straight through the windshield" he smiled laughing slightly "you drove?" I nodded slowly noticing how crazy it sounded, a mythical monarch driving a human contraption such as a car? It was two worlds that weren't meant to mix

"Tried to, I wasn't always Queen, I used to be a normal kid in storybrooke who ate at granny's everyday, got homework I couldn't figure out, got babysat, got caught stealing chocolate from the 'forbidden cupboard', I was as normal as the mundanes pan picks up" I swept my rod for his legs but he jumped "fast learner"

He aimed for my head but I blocked with my hand and grasped the wood swinging my own weapon at him, suddenly he smirked and picked up something behind him swinging it at me, I realised it was a bow and I ducked making it hit his staff.

I saw Felix toss my own to me "even the playing field?" He seemed surprised that I had a bow in the first place, probably the whole 'A Queen will never fight' thing. He tried to hit my ankle but our weapons clashed, I suddenly hypnotised him into a strange place to concentrate, we were 'in' a club, lots of neon lights to distract the eye but no music, just dead silence to make him think he was alone, he kept he bow armed as he searched for me.

He was determined but I loved winning so much more. I placed my arrowhead on the back of his neck "Yo ho ho, Lightwood~ Never leave your back open, it could get you killed" I let his mind go "pirate's actually say that?" I smirked "I've definitely heard my father say it more than once" he made a hook with his finger "does Captain Hook actually have a hook?" I nodded "even as his daughter, it's quite imitating when he says 'don't run through the house'" he put down his bow smiling.

I did the same "Wait, so Hook actually acts like a dad?" I nodded "oh yea" I didn't miss him chuckling to himself in the corner "something funny lightwood?" He gestured to me "it's just- I never expected hook to be so...so" I smiled remembering the cartoon movie "not evil? Charming? An actual person?" He nodded as I fiddled with my braid "don't judge a book by its cover, just because that's what you see on tv and in the books, doesn't mean it's true" he went back to his punching bag smiling so I let myself leave the area and prepared to meet his friends.
