I walked through Atlanta, carefully sneaking around the Walkers in the streets, my clothes coated with their blood, covering my scent. I looked down the street, and saw a grocery store about fifty feet away, the windows surprisingly intact. I cautiously drew my knife, and slowly walked through the horde, picking off a few that got too close, and slowly tried the door, finding it unlocked. I pushed it open, and went inside, using my foot to close the door behind me. I quickly looked around, making sure I was alone, then dropped my backpack on the floor, shoving bottles of water, cans of food, medical supplies, and some other necessities, such as a flashlight and batteries, a few bottles of tequila, and duct tape inside, zipping it up. I froze, hearing the door open, and held my knife defensively, peeking around the corner of the aisle I was in. It wasn't Walkers, that was for sure. There was an Asian looking dude with floppy black hair, a pissed looking guy in a leather jacket, holding a crossbow, a woman with short white hair and a gun, and a tall, gorgeous woman, wearing a cowboy hat and sporting a rifle. I kept quiet, not sure if they were friendly or not, and slowly made my way towards the door, while they headed for the food aisles.
I froze, as my foot hit an empty bottle, sending it crashing into a shelf, and panicked, as the man in leather charged at me with his crossbow. I ducked as he fired, and the bolt stuck in the wall behind me. I looked at it, then at him, and said,"That could've been my damn head, psycho!" He shouted,"What did you say to me?! Who the fuck are you, huh??" He dropped the crossbow, and came at me, and I dodged his right hook, swinging my knee up into his gut. While he doubled over, I did a roundhouse kick to his face, and dropped him, then leapt on top of him, and swung my knife towards his throat. He grabbed both my hands, his arms shaking, as he fought to hold the knife away from his throat, and a Southern accent yelled,"Hey! Get off of him!" I kept trying to swing the knife down, scared that if I let him go, they'd kill me, and I heard a click before I heard the shot, and felt the pain. I fell off the man, holding my side, and dropped my knife, warm blood pouring through my fingers. It hurt like a bitch, and I clenched my teeth, writhing in pain. The man kicked the knife away from my hand, and shouted,"That's what you get!" He picked up his crossbow, and aimed it at my heart. "I'll ask you again..Who the fuck are you?!"
I choked out,"Charlie..Charlie Rogers." He asked,"Well, Charlie Rogers, why the hell are you here?? Are you with anyone??" I shook my head, sweating and shaking with pain, and whispered,"No..I'm all alone. My dad was infected when all this started..I-I had to kill him. My mom died when I was a kid, and my girlfriend got eaten by Walkers." An older woman's voice said,"Daryl, I don't think she'll hurt us." Daryl lowered his crossbow, and said,"Nah, me either." He walked off, and I forced myself to slowly sit up, coughing, and looked at the blood spreading quickly across my left side. "Ohh, fuck.." The girl with the cowboy hat walked up, and said,"Christ, I shot her good. If we want more answers from her, we'll have to take her to Dad. He'll fix her up. Then, Rick can find out whether or not she's telling the truth." I blinked, hissing in pain, as the Asian and Daryl hauled me to my feet. I went to grab my backpack as we passed it, and Daryl growled,"Don't even think about it.." I froze, locking my legs in place so they couldn't drag me any farther, and swallowed hard, before glaring at him. "I'm not going anywhere without that backpack, asshole, so you can either let me have it, or kiss my ass." He looked a bit shocked, then grumbled a string of swear words, snatching my backpack off the floor. "I'll take it. Until I know what's in here, you ain't touching it." I sighed in relief, and let them drag me outside.
We silently crept around the Walkers, and I started getting dizzy, a trail of blood following behind me, and I looked down at my wound. Dark blood continued gushing from it, and I was pretty sure the woman had gotten awful close to my lung, luckily missing it, or I would most likely already be dead. I staggered along with them, trying to stay conscious, and my legs chose to give out at the worst moment possible. The woman with the Southern accent caught me, and looked me in the eyes. "You stay awake, you hear me? You cannot pass out here, or we're all dead." As she talked to me, I dimly noticed a Walker coming up behind her, and gunfire nearby told me the others in her group were fighting off more zombies. I numbly felt glass under my left hand, and whispered,"Move." She asked,"What?" I shouted,"Move!" I grabbed the glass, sharp pain shooting through my palm as it sliced into my skin, and shoved her out of the way, right as the Walker went to sink its teeth into her throat. I plunged the glass deep into its skull, piercing its brain, and shoved it to the side, shaking as it didn't move. The woman stared between me and the Walker in shock, and that's when the Asian ran up, holding her face gently in his hands. "Maggie, are you okay?" He saw the dead Walker, and his eyes widened."Oh, shit..Did it bite you?" She shook her head, and whispered,"Charlie saved me.." They both stared at me, and the others ran up, the white haired woman saying,"We have to get out of here, now. Daryl got all the supplies we need." I slowly fell backwards, hitting the ground hard, and then, darkness closed in on me..
