Third POV
"Seoul PD was able to stop the murder of the past nine victims. Killing him on the spot at an abandoned warehouse. Police say that he had kidnapped, 26-year-old Detective Kimora Diamond from NYPD. Diamond is currently at Seoul Medical, where she is in critical condition. As for the families of the victims and the nation, we can now say that we no longer have to worry anymore."
A nurse turns down the tv and walks back to the desk. Jaehwa was sitting right outside the operating hall, where Kimora has been for the past 8 hours.
Jaehwa's POV
"Sir, do you need anything?"
I just stayed quiet.
"How about we get you fixed up so that when she comes out, you'll be ready."
I looked at the nurse, who has been trying to drag me away for the last couple of hours.
"I'm fine."
She caught my hint and walked away. I glanced at my watch. It has been an additional three hours since the last time I checked. My phone kept going off, but I just ignored it. I rubbed my face, feeling the grime and dirt that covered it. After another 2 hours, doctors rushed in as four came out. They looked so beat. Covered in blood as nurses rushed over to them. One doctor sat down, looking lightheaded—another collapsing to the floor. I ran over to the one standing by the window.
"How is she?"
He looked at me with tiredness in his eyes.
"She's stable. She lost a lot of blood and lost consciousness. Her pelvis was completely shattered as well as her right shoulder blade. We were able to reconstruct her right femur and put metal rods in it. If she wakes up, she will have to fight to live and walk again. It's a miracle that she even survived that long with those kinds of injuries."
He puts a hand on my shoulder, then walked away. It was my turn to collapse to the floor. As I sat there, I heard footsteps walk up behind me. It was Kwon.
"Jay, get up."
"No."
"Sitting here isn't going to speed up her recovery. Now get up."
He pulled me up and dragged me to the Café. I sat in the small metal chair, and Kwon placed a cup of coffee next to me.
"At least they got the bleeding to stop and fix her up. She just needs to fight it now."
I took a sip of my coffee. A nurse walked over to us
"She has a couple more things to do, but for now, we moved her to the ICU to let her rest for the time being."
"Can I see her?"
I was taken to a room where there were machines and tubes everywhere. In the middle of it, all was a single bed. I walked over to it to see Kimora. Her face was wrapped, and a breathing tube was inserted. Not only was her face, but her body was held in a larger cast. Both of her legs were in a cast, while her right arm and chest were wrapped. She laid there in stillness. The machines were helping her breathe. I sat in the chair next to her, afraid to touch her. Looking at her broken body made me want to go back in time and kill that bastard over and over again
"Please wake up."
*Two days later.
Jaehwa's POV
I was still seated in the same spot. This time my tie was undone, and I slept with my coat as a blanket. Sleeping in the chair made my body ache, but I didn't want to leave her. I shifted uncomfortably in the chair as Kwon came in and huffed.
