10: Infected

" Hey Byers." Billy said as he walked up to me sitting on the bleachers while I ate my lunch. He stepped over the bench I was sitting on and sat right next to me and ate lunch with me.

" Hey Hargrove. " I smiled.

" Sorry about uh.. about last night." He said looking at the ground and then up at me.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too." I frowned. "I had fun though." I smiled at him.

" Me too." He slightly smiled. "Plans tonight?"

" Unfortunately, yes." I frowned at him. "Well my mom wanted me home for this movie night or whatever. I don't know. And I promised I would since I wasn't last time." I explained.

" Okay then, tomorrow." He said.

" Sure thing Hargrove. Where?"

" I was thinking, there's uh, this party tomorrow."

" On a Tuesday?" I asked.

He laughed and looked at the ground. " Yeah. On a Tuesday." He said and looked back up at me.

"What's the occasion? And whose house?"

"Parents aren't home and it's at uhh Tony, or Tod, or Tommy's house. Or whatever his name is. Black hair, small, obsessed with whoever is 'popular' I guess." He said.

" Mmm, I have an idea of who you mean. What time?"

" 7." - " You didn't go with me last time. And I gotta bring a girl or else I'll be alone and uh, well that's just embarrassing right?" He said inhaling cigarette smoke with a half smile.

"Fine. I'll go." I smiled and rolled my eyes.

" Pick you up at 6:50 tomorrow. Okay?"

"Okay." I smiled and continued eating my sandwich and talking to him.

***After School***

I was doing my usual homework in the gymnasium while the boys played basketball ball. All the sudden the world glitched back into the UpsideDown and I heard someone running. I knew his walking pattern. He lived in my room. I ran out the gymnasium and into the hallway.

" WILL! WILL WHERE ARE YOU?!" I yelled running after him. I ran outside and saw him running. "WILL!? WILL!!" I screamed and used my powers as a boost to get to him faster.

" GO AWAY! GO AWAY! GO AWAYYY!" Will screamed at the monster.

Right before I got to him the shadow smoke creature passed threw me and got to Will. I grabbed Wills arm and I felt his pain as the shadow monster got him.

* 3rd Person POV*

" Guys?! Guys!! What's wrong?!" Mike yelled trying to snap them out of it. All the kids stood around there not knowing what to do.

Joyce ran up to them and tried snapping them both out of it. All of Quinn's veins started glowing a darkish blue and her head slung back and her pupils dilated. Joyce cried as she tried to wake them up. Wills eyes shot open. Quinn's back arched and she got weak and passed out.

Joyce caught her and then her eyes slowly opened. And then Quinn jumped - out of being scared and her mom held her hand while Quinn broke down in tears as everyone stared at her and Will.

Joyce drove them home. The car ride was silent the whole time.

*** Quinn's POV***

* At home*

*ring ring*

The phone rang and scared me. I picked up the phone shyly and quietly.

"H-hello?"

" Hey uh, Quinn. It's Billy, Uh I just wanted to uh call because you ran out earlier today seeming a little scared and you were calling after Will. And I was just wondering and hoping everything is okay."

" Yes I'm okay thank you." I said.

" We are still on for tomorrow at s-" He stared and I cut him off by hanging up the phone.

I was to scared to say anything to him. I was still in shock.

"Who was that?" Bob asked.

" Some kid from school." I said clearing my throat.

"Who?" My mom asked.

" No one mom." I said and cautiously walked back to my room.

I face planted into my bed and sighed.

"You okay?" Will asked.

" I don't know." I replied.

"Do you feel it?" He asked and I sat up.

"Sometimes." I whispered.

" What is it?" He teared up.

" I don't know." I cried.

"What are we gonna do?" He asked.

I didn't answer I just cried and shoved my face into a pillow.

"Quinn?"

" Yes?" I said softly.

"You're blood?"

" What?" I asked and looked at him and he pointed at me and I looked at my hands. My veins were glowing again. I groaned and calmed my self down. A piece of the fabric on my bed had started to burn from the heat of my hand. And Will started to get uncomfortable even from all the way across the room.

" Are you okay?" I asked.

" Y-yeah. Yeah I'm okay." He lied.

"Are you still seeing Billy?" Will asked.

I lightly smiled. " Yes."

" Why?" He asked

My face went straight. " What do you mean?"

"He beat up this kid today. I saw him. Why do you like him?"

" When did you see him?"

"During lunch. I went outside with my friends and I saw him in the parking lot and he punched this freshman." Will said and my eyes teared up.

" I- maybe it wasn't him."

" I saw him, Quinn."

" It's getting late." I said and turned my lamp off, turned around facing the wall. I heard Will sigh and then turn his lamp off too.
