14: Will

Bob pulled Joyce into her bed room to talk and left me, Mike, and Will in the room alone for a moment.

"So are you dating Billy now?" I heard Mike ask and I turned around and they were both dead staring at me. I looked back and forth at them both.

"Why?" I asked.

" Max says he's a jerk. She said that you shouldn't get involved with him."

"Max... doesn't know what she's talking about."

"I think Nancy is right." Mike mumbled to Will.

" What?" I asked clenching my fist.

"Nancy said he just wants to get in your pants."

"MIKE!" I whisper-yelled and looked at Will who had very wide eyes.

"It's true. Have you even taken a second to look at hi-" he started and then cut himself off.

"What?"

" Your nose it bleeding again." Mike said.

I groaned. And I walked to the bathroom to get a tissue and as I walked past Will he looked very uncomfortable. I looked behind me and where I was standing the wood on the floor looked burned and the paper around my foot at been burned. I ignored it and went to pick up a tissue and even it started to burn up.

Mike just stared at me. " What?" I asked.

"Why is that happening."

" Because you made me mad dingus." I said rolling my eyes and calmed myself down. Mike rolled his eyes right back and started to walk back to Will.

" Its lovers lake, I get it. Okay I get it. That's lake Jordan. And if that's lake Jordan then you can probably find..." He snapped excitedly. "Yeah! That's uh, Sattler's quarry. And if you just follow it naturally.. it moves to... and there it is. The Eno river. Do you see it?" Bob said and Joyce tilted her head staring at it in realization.

" Okay so the lines aren't roads. But they act like roads. And they act like roads cause when you follow them you'll see they don't go over water. And that's the give away. That's the giveaway! Ha! Don't you get it? It's not a puzzle, it's a map. It's a map of Hawkins." He said and me, Mike, and Will all looked at each other with wide eyes. My moms mouth practically dropped to the ground. "Right Will?" Bob smiled and Will didn't know what to say he just stood there and awkwardly smiled pretending he knew the answer.

For about the 2 we were trying to find out where the X on the map was. Labeling different locations. Trying to find the measurements and distance between certain locations.

" Oh come on thi-this has gotta be enough." Mom said to Bob.

" It's really not. It's really not." Bob admitted and we all sighed.

" O-Okay. Can't you figure it out?" She asked.

" Well.. it's hard. The ratio isn't exactly 1:1. I mean if you're twisting my arm, and you're twisting my arm." He mumbled. " I would say the X is...maybe...? A half mile southeast of Danford?"

My mom sighed in relief. " Thank you! Thank you." She smiled and kissed his cheek. She took the map and ran with it. And we all ran with her.

"Wait.. are- are we actually going?"

" There's nothing. There's nothing here." Mike said.
