Chapter Five

I took my blindfold and saw Niall standing on stage with Cher Lloyd. I clapped both hands over my mouth and started crying harder. It didn't sound like Cher before when she was talking with Niall. I learnt that she had been talking with an American accent to throw me off. It worked. I had absolutely no idea who had been talking to me. Everyone cheered and Cher and Niall sang me happy birthday on stage in beautiful harmony. I found the rest of my friends and Miranda and we all watched the concert together. Then, all of the sudden I felt someone poke my back. I jumped and spun around to find Louis, Zayn, Harry, and Liam, all standing behind me smiling the biggest smiles I'd ever seen. I screamed and hugged Louis who picked me up in the world's biggest bear hug. Niall had joined us and one by one, I hugged the other boys and they all wished me happy birthday while Cher sang. Cher performed for about two hours, after which gifts were given and dinner was consumed. We had prime rib and Yorkshire pudding, two of my most favourite foods in the world. Louis was freaking out because anything Yorkshire, he's obsessed with. Though he is from South Yorkshire, so it made sense, plus, it was delicious.

After dinner, the lights got dim and laser beams filled the room. Smoke came out from the upper corners of the room. I looked around and found Niall and grabbed his arm.

"What's going on?" I yelled over the loud music that had elevated.

"Party time!" Andy and Maz yelled in my face then skipped off together, arm in arm.

Andy worked in management for One Direction and he and Maz both were very good friends of the boys. Andy was twenty and Maz was eighteen. Although they treated each other like crap and talked about one another like they were mortal enemies, they had the closest friendship I knew of.

I screamed because I loved them both. They were both hilarious and were half the reason I kept my twitter. They made the internet amusing. Maz had a channel on YouTube and he ranted about random things he felt needed to be ranted about. He was from Wolverhampton, just like Liam. I didn't know how the boys knew Maz or what Andy's job title was but whatever the reason, they were the best of friends now.

"Come on!" Niall grabbed my wrist and pulled me along behind Andy and Maz.

"Wait, babe." I said.

"What?"

"I can't..."

"What?"

"I can't drink."

"You can drink non-alcoholic champagne!"

I smiled and followed him to the bar.

We sat down at some stools at the bar and the bartender gave Niall a beer and me a glass of non-alcoholic champagne which I made sure was, in fact, alcohol-free. I took a sip. It wasn't horrible. It certainly didn't taste like real champagne but it was drinkable.

We partied like it was 1999 all night until dawn. We sang and danced until we saw the sun. It was literally the best birthday party I'd ever had. All five boys were there, all my friends were there, my sister, Andy and Maz, Danielle and Eleanor, Zayn's girlfriend, Perrie and her band mates, Jade, Leigh-Anne, and Jesy were there so I got to meet them for the first time. They were nice. Their girl band was called Little Mix and they had won the X Factor the season after One Direction came in third place. They were all incredible singers and they were all stunningly beautiful. Jade and I got on the best but the other three were just as nice.

We had cake at about eleven o'clock. They brought out a massive, five-tiered cake on a gorgeous sparkly silver wheeled pedestal. I gasped when I saw it. It was white with bright pink borders. It had yellow and pink flowers all over it with a big "17" on top. It was beautiful. There were pink candles and flaming sparklers sticking out everywhere. When we cut into it, it was lemon cake with raspberry filling. I didn't know how they knew, but that was my favourite flavour of cake. It was by far, the most delicious cake I'd ever tasted.
