Chapter Thirteen

I fell asleep on his chest to the sound of his breathing. His soft heartbeat lulled me to sleep and I dreamt the entire way to our destination, which ended up being Edinburgh, Scotland. I'm not sure how they found out about my strange obsession with Scotland but nonetheless, there I was, in the city that housed the University that I eventually wanted to attend. The architecture was indescribable. Every building looked like it had been built in the tenth century, and some were actually that old.

A man approached us. "Good day to you all!"

I melted at the sound of his Scottish accent.

"Who's the birthday girl?" He asked and everyone pointed to me. "Right this way, lass."

I walked up to him and placed my hand in his waiting palm.

"Gotta go get you ready for your party!" The man said.

"Ssh!" The entire group yelled at him.

"That was supposed to be a surprise." Harry said disappointedly.

"Oh, sorry!" He said. "Nevermind, love. No party."

"Well, it's too late now." Harry sighed.

"Sorry." The man said as he led me away from the group. "I'm Allister, by the way."

"I'm Ayley." I smiled.

"I know."

Allister looked like he was about the same age as my dad, maybe a bit older. He wore a green kilt and high white socks and his hairless head reflected the sun's light. His Scottish accent was beautifully rich and I never wanted him to stop talking so I could listen to it. My obsession for Scotland was intense. You could say I was in heaven.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked Allister.

"Oh, you'll see." He smiled.

"More secrets?"

"Have they been telling you secrets all week?"

"Yes!"

"Then yes, more secrets." He winked at me.

I laughed.

"Are they gone?" I asked.

"I think so." Liam said.

"Okay. Attention everyone!" I yelled.

Everyone turned to face me and no one said a word.

"Kay, so we need to get everyone to the venue and set everything up as fast as possible because Allister's only going to be able to distract her for so long."

"You heard the man!" Louis called. "Everyone to the venue!"

Everyone cheered as we made our way down the streets of Edinburgh to a club called The Liquid Room located right in the heart of Edinburgh. I wondered to myself what Allister would do with Ayley but I trusted he wouldn't do anything that I wouldn't do. I tried to stay concentrated because I knew Ayley would be asking questions and getting restless very soon.

"Who else is coming?" I asked to anyone who was willing to answer.

"My sister said she'd come." Caspar said.

"Okay. Anyone else?" I looked around. "Sam, are your brothers and sister coming?"

"Uh yea, I think they said they'd come."

"I'm just trying to get a general picture of how many more people are going to be here."

"Hey." Eleanor walked up to me. "Calm down."
