Chapter Ten

"Hey, babe." I said in the most soothing voice I could produce.

He groaned.

"How you feeling?"

He groaned again.

"Okay caveman, I'm heading out." Paul said. "Goodnight."

"Bye, Paul. Thank you." I said as he left.

"Should I go?" Caspar asked.

I helped Niall sit up on the bed.

"No, it's fine." I said, still looking at Niall.

"Okay." Caspar said awkwardly. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Uhm." I thought about what he could do. "Could you fetch me a warm cloth from the bathroom?"

"Sure." He got up promptly and went to the bathroom, coming back within seconds with a damp cloth. He handed it to me.

"Thanks." I said as I put it on Niall's forehead.

"That's wet." He complained.

"I know." I said. "It's good."

"My head hurts."

"I know, hun, it will."

"Could you turn that light off?" He pointed to a lamp across the room.

Without a word, Caspar got up and shut the light off.

"Thanks, man." Niall said. "Sorry you have to see me like this."

"Oh, it's quite alright." Caspar smiled.

"I'm not usually such a downer."

"I know."

Niall smiled at Caspar's understanding.

"Are you hungry?" I asked Niall.

"Is that even a question?" He laughed.

I smiled. "Caspar, would you grab the sandwich out of the fridge for me?"

"Yep." He did as told and brought me the sandwich.

I unwrapped it and gave it to Niall who chomped away at it.

"I love ham sandwiches."

"Don't speak with your mouth full." I scolded. "It's rude."

"Sorry."

I waited until Niall had finished his food to talk to him.

"So how do you feel?" I rubbed his back.

"Better." He said. "My head's still pounding but I'm feeling better."

I smiled.

"What happened last night?"

"You guys had another birthday party for me."

"Really?" He looked upset.

"What's wrong?"

"I don't remember it."

"Yea?"

"This is the first birthday I've ever spent with you and I can't even remember it."

"Awwe it's okay, babe."

"I'm not gonna get drunk at the next one."

"There's another one?"

He paused. "No..."

"Niall!"

"Don't tell Jess I told you or she'll have my head!"
