Chapter Twenty Two
"Mum?" I said.
"Oh, Ayley!" My mother came running through the crowded airport straight to me and attacked me with a bear hug.
"Mum..." I struggled to speak. "Mum, I can't breathe..."
"Sorry!" She put me down.
I smiled hesitantly.
"Oh, I missed you!" She was in tears.
"I missed you too, mommy."
"Did you have fun?" She asked.
"Yes!"
"I'm glad!"
I smiled.
"What did you guys do?" My mum asked.
"We'll tell you on the way home."
"Okay!" My mother was way too excited.
We loaded onto a coach bus and started the three-hour trek home. I didn't want to leave Europe, but now that I was back in Canada, I just wanted to be home. I looked at my phone to check the time. 10:45pm. I was tired. I shouldn't have been. I'd slept the whole eight-hour plane ride. But I was dead tired. I dragged myself to the back of the bus where a king-size bed lived. I climbed up onto it and curled up right in the middle and shut my eyes. Not thirty seconds later, Niall came back and jumped on the bed beside me. I groaned.
"You can't seriously be tired." He said with a smile.
"Well I am." I said emotionlessly.
"Shall we have a sleep party?"
"Define 'sleep party'." My words were muffled as my face was covered by blankets.
"Everyone who's tired comes back and sleeps together."
I groaned.
"So no, then?" He said.
"Who else is tired?"
"I don't know."
"That means no one, goodbye." I reached my hand up and pushed him off the bed.
He laughed. "Rude."
I grunted and he laughed some more.
"Am I tired?" He asked.
"No, go away."
"Ouch."
I waved at him.
"Fine, I'm leaving."
"Thank you!"
"Enjoy your slumber, sleeping beauty."
"I'm trying."
His laugh got quieter as he left the room, shut the door, and rejoined the others. "This is too good to be true." I thought to myself. "They can't seriously be leaving me alone right now." But I was wrong. I slowly drifted off to sleep undisturbed by anyone else. I fell into one of the deepest slumbers I'd ever been in. It was so peaceful.
- Niall's point of view -
"Where's Ayley?" Jess asked me as I left the bedroom.
"She's tired so she's gonna take a nap." I explained.
Jess got up and started toward the back room.
"Where are you going?" I asked her.
"To jump on her."
"Don't."
