The night of the seer ceremony came faster than I anticipated it to. The majority of days leading up to it were spent preparing for it.

Louis and many of his rogue friends around town were helping me. Liam was mostly MIA, only calling me for a few minutes everyday just to tell me he was fine and that he was sorry he couldn't help much with the preparations.

I was so tired at the end of each day that I almost always fell asleep as soon as my head hit my pillow every night. Harry had shown up every night and he would sleep beside me. We never got to talk much as he would leave immediately after breakfast.

I didn't mind much. Although I kind of missed him being always around me all the time. But it was easier to cope with his absence because I was so busy.

I was at home with Cat as she and I were getting ready. I was done with my makeup and hair, opting for a natural look with an elegant, low updo. I took out the dress I would wear from the box and slipped it on.

It was a deep purple to lilac ombre dress, with a strapless neckline. It was the dress Mom had worn in her prom. I had planned to wear it to my own prom but since I had dropped out of school, I thought tonight would be the best time to wear it. At least now it felt like my Mom was with me.

"It's really pretty," Cat said after she had helped me zip up. "And you look amazing in it."

Cat looked gorgeous too and I told her just that. She was rocking a new hair style - a stylish wavy bob that framed her small face perfectly. She had on a black long-sleeved jumpsuit with a pleated neckline and laced left sleeve.

It was tradition for all other guests to wear black. Except for the alphas, they were also required wear a small ribbon or jewelry that showed off the color of the pack they belonged to or were with. Cat had a sapphire brooch pinned on her right chest for Westwind. She wanted to wear a moonstone one but it was apparently a gift from Mikhail and he insisted that she wore it tonight.

It was rubies for Southfire, hessonites for Eastearth, emeralds for Northwaters, and moonstones for rogues.

I had bought and given Louis and Liam amethyst cuff links to wear tonight so that we matched.

"Mikhail's gonna be here any minute now. Is Harry picking you up?" she asked.

I shook my head, "Louis will. He said it was better that way."

Cat nodded as she straightened the brooch. I didn't realize I was staring at her until she said, "What?"

"I just... how are you, Cat? How's... you know, you and Mikhail working out?"

There was a pause, like she was pondering on how to answer. "He's... treating me well. He could be a little overbearing sometimes though."

"Just a little?"

She looked hesitantly at me. I raised an eyebrow.

"Okay. Fuck, fine. A lot. Like with this brooch. I only wanted to be there because I wanted to see you and be there for you but he literally threw out the moonstone Mom gave me. That was a freakin' heirloom and he threw it! I shouted at him and told him I wouldn't wear this damn thing until he returned it to me. He could've asked nicely like a normal person but fuck no! He had to be all extra and throw it out. It made me realize how much I really miss Li-" Cat abruptly stopped and pursed her lips. She cast her eyes down and it looked like she was trying hard not to cry.

"How about you wear my color instead?" I asked. I swiped a small box from my vanity and handed it to Cat. In it was a small amethyst brooch. I was planning to give it to her anyway. I only didn't because I thought she had wanted to wear Westwind colors.
