I hear the alarm clock beep repeatedly before I hesitantly reach over to turn it off. I open my eyes, regretting it immediately due to the light streaming through the curtains and screwing them tightly shut again. Eventually, I roll out of bed and grab the first outfit I see: a black, cropped top and some ripped jeans. I brush my hair into a high ponytail and huff at my appearance, not wanting to go back to A levels after the winter holidays.

I open my door and head into the kitchen where my roommates Emily and Poppy are.
They're still at school, 16 years old, but we decided to move into an apartment together which their parents allowed only because I'm 17 and 'responsible'. We're not far from our homes though, only a 10 minute walk, so our parents can still come round and 'check up on us'.

"Hey Em and Pops" I say with a smile and wave at Poppy who's sat at the table with a piece of toast on her plate and Emily who's making herself a tea on the kitchen island.
"Hiya Maddieee!" Poppy says with a cheery grin. I don't know how she's so happy all of the time.
"Hi Mads" Emily says as she takes a sip of her tea and joins Poppy on the table. I walk over to the cupboard and take out the box of rice crispies, pouring a large portion into the bowl that I took out a second ago and soon taking a seat with my besties.

I hear a sudden ding from my phone and look down to see a message from one of my friends who goes to sixth form with me.

Ella: Morning Madikins! Just
         got invited to a party tonight and
          I want you to come along. :) xx

Mads: No El, you know I don't
do parties :( xx

Ella: Pleaseeeeee. Just this once!
          Bring a friend or two :)) xx

Mads: fine... I guess I do kinda
need to let loose 🤷🏼‍♀️ xx

Ella: YAY! See you in Sociology
          this morning! Xx

I sigh and rub my hands over my face and then look at Em and Pops. "How do you guys feel about going to a party tonight?"
"Hell yes!!" Emily fist bumps the air
"Hmm I don't know, Maddie, I'm sure we'll get homework today" Poppy says, brown eyes looking down at her toast, knowing that I'll give her the look and she'll cave in.
I still pull the look on my face waiting for her to say yes. Poppy looks up for a second, glances at my expression, considers and finally says "okay, okay but I'm not drinking".
"Talk about yourself" Emily takes another sip of her tea.
I smile smugly and go back to eating my rice crispies as Poppy shakes her head in disapproval.

It's raining today as we're walking towards the school - typical England - and it's super cold so we're all wrapped up in our coats and gloves. Why did I wear ripped jeans and a crop top??
Just as we're coming close, a matte black Dodge Challenger drives past us, over a puddle and splashing us all from head to toe.
"What the fuck? That's not cool!" I yell.
"Sorry, ma" I girl with black hair shouts out of the window, chuckling slightly.
I huff and look down and my now drenched clothes and looking over to Em and Pops to see their soaked uniform.
"That's so annoying. Who was that?" Emily asks me and i just shrug.
"She must be a transfer student or something. I haven't seen her before"

I walk into the sixth form block after saying goodbye to my girls and sit at a table with my friend group.
"Shit it's cold out there" I say and Ella giggles while nodding in agreement.
"Girl you're soaked" Hanna laughs at me.
"Some asshole drove past us on the way to school, not caring about the puddle by the sidewalk" I groan and remove my coat, rolling my eyes.
I see a girl in oversized clothing stroll into the block and I watch her as she takes a seat with the twins Zadie and Zoe. Those girls are BAD but they're hot as fuck.
