changbin groaned in frustration when he heard the doorbell being pressed multiple times. he sighed, remembering that hongjoong wasn't home so he couldn't yell at him to open the door. he groaned internally and stood up from the couch. "ugh, shut up, felix…!"
he opened the door and was about to get really upset, but he stopped. felix stood in front of him with the excitement of a little kid. he grinned and waved excitedly. "hi, hyung!"
changbin barely heard his greeting. his eyes had fallen on the plastic-metal thing in felix's ear. he frowned, his eyes concentrated on the thing. felix wasn't wearing that when they met — or in the selfies he sent.
"hyung?"
changbin didn't waste time. "what's that thing in your ear?"
felix frowned, but then he smiled. "oh, that's my hearing aid. I'm partially deaf in one ear."
changbin raised an eyebrow. "deaf? but why didn't you wear it yesterday…?"
"I didn't know if the turbulence on the plane would mess with it, so I took it off for the plane ride," felix shrugged. "can I come in or not?"
changbin sighed and walked into the apartment. "close the door behind you."
changbin smiled a bit. felix was his first deaf friend — well, partially deaf. it counted, right? but that made felix that extra bit special that changbin needed to give himself more reason to like felix. couldn't really bully a disabled kid, right?
"so what do you want to do?"
felix shrugged. "anything. what were you doing before I got here?"
"watching TV," changbin replied, dropping his body onto the couch. "I'm off college today, but I go back tomorrow. so you can't sneak into my apartment tomorrow."
"bet."
"felix, no—"
"felix, yes."
changbin chuckled. "you're exactly the same in real life, wow."
felix put his head in changbin's shoulder and held changbin's arm. "I'm not some type of liar, changbinnie. besides… I still want to marry you."
changbin rolled his eyes. "what about Choi San?"
"what about him?"
changbin raised an eyebrow. "I thought you had feelings for him."
"I kind of do," felix replied softly. "it's just… I had a crush on him. when I met you, my life turned around. and I'm not a shy person — I'll make it hella obvious that I like you. and I hope you weren't just being dumb because I really like you, changbin. our babies will be gorgeous."
changbin stared for a moment in shocked silence. he thought it would be impossible for someone to like him — after all, he thought of himself to be more of a friend than a boyfriend or lover. he thought he was one of those people that would permanently be in the friendzone if he didn't make a move or something like that.
but here he was, sitting next to lee felix, the boy that wanted to have babies with him. as weird as it was, it made changbin feel all weird and warm inside. he smiled at thr younger boy and felix smiled as well.
"no babies," changbin said quickly. felix's smile broke into a soft laugh and changbin's feeble heart performed a backflip or two at the gentle sound. "and how sure are you that you like me, lee felix?"
felix seemed to him in thought, but changbin knew he was just messing around and wasting time. "well, it wasn't too long ago. I was just surprised that after sending that accidental message to you, I thought you would ignore me because I was a weirdo talking about the sky."
felix smiled fondly, his hands unknowingly finding changbin's. their fingers were entangled in one another affectionately, as if they had known each other for a long time. they had known each other just short of more than a month, yet they seemed so fond of each other already.
"but I knew before you even told me to call you 'binnie hyung' that we would become closer at some point," felix continued after a bit. "and knowing that the people we knew were linked to each other gave me the hope that we could meet one another. I'm glad we met."
"well," changbin began, already embarrassed by the words he had yet to say, "soulmates have to meet at some point, huh?"
felix smiled widely. "yeah — soulmates."
changbin smiled softly before turning to the TV again. slowly, felix put his head down on changbin's shoulder again. they sat in that same silence, but more comfortably this time. unknowingly, their hands were still intertwined affectionately.
changbin wished that he could just tell felix.
