England, Present Time
Present time= after Endgame
Loki fell out of his Wildfire Aspect shortly after escaping from Dr. Strange and his hoodlums. He ended up in the Thames river, burning up and dripping in sweat. Usually, Loki was smoother at transforming, but he hadn't transformed in a very long time.
Standing, waist deep in the river, Loki surveyed his surroundings. He had attracted quite a crowd, mostly of firemen, trailing after him as he set fire to the tops of roofs and trees. At the bank of the river, a collection of Police officers in squad cars and firemen in firetrucks stood by, waiting to see what he would do.
Now that he was a man, Loki was completely naked. But he soon fixed that by using a small bit of magic to cover himself in his normal clothes, black leather and green cloth. But he didn't want to get the leather wet, so he summoned only the green cloth.
Loki's slick black hair was dripping wet and sticking to his neck. His clothes clung tightly to his body and he was physically exhausted. In the last twenty four hours, Loki had attacked New York, fought his brother, been pounded up by the Hulk, used an Infinity Stone (which took lots of strength, even for a god), and fought the modern Avengers (again). His mind was free from the influence of the scepter, which made him lighter, but also mentally exhausted. He had just learned that his Mother, Father, and Sister were dead and that Thanos had been defeated. Loki, with a deeply tired sigh from his very soul, drew his knives, ready to fight his way out of this one.
Suddenly, black SUVs pulled up and screeched to a halt on the bank of the river. Loki narrowed his eyes. Out of one of the SUVs, the black one-eyed man stepped out. He approached the bank and Loki tightened his grip on the knives.
"Loki!" the man yelled. It was summer, and yet the Shield Agent still wore his black trench coat. "Please put down the knives!"
Loki grinned, remembering just a few weeks ago, when this puny mortal had welcomed him with a cautious instruction to put down his spear.
"Long time no see," Loki called back, "Nick Fury!"
Fury nodded. He had been expecting this ever since the Avengers had told him they had lost Loki. Nick remembered them informing him of this bit of important info...
The Avengers hadn't wanted to admit it, but once everything was done and over, no one wanted to be the one to tell Fury what had happened.
"Well," Thor had said, "The man of iron lost him, he should tell, but he's dead."
Everyone winced. Thor didn't notice.
"Or Rogers should tell him, but he's no longer an Avenger," Thor had continued. "I think Banner should tell him."
"Why me?" Banner had whined.
"Because you caused Tony to loose Loki," Thor explained logically.
"What?" Banner had asked, looking around the room for support, "How am I at fault? I didn't know what was going on? That wasn't even me, that was the Big Guy..." Banner trailed off, seeing Thor's happy face. Thor gave the thumbs up.
"Great, have fun," the god of thunder said.
"No, no, no, no," Banner stopped Thor in his tracks. "Loki was your brother. If you wouldn't have let him leave Asgard, he wouldn't have gone to Earth. You should be the one to tell Fury. Loki's your responsibility."
"I agree," Wanda said.
"This one's on you," Quill agreed.
Thor sighed. He faced the door to Fury's office. And without knocking, walked in to face the flames.
"Don't bother knocking," Fury said from his desk. He was surrounded by paperwork.
"Fury, I have something to tell S.H.E.I.L.D." Thor said, getting straight to the business.
"Go on," Fury said, looking suspicious.
"I didn't have the chance to tell you before, because of Thanos and stuff, but Loki got away when Tony and Rogers were getting the Tesseract and the scepter," Thor explained, not looking at Fury, instead, fidgeting with his hair and looking around the room.
Fury sat back in his chair. "And how did he get away?"
"Weeeeeellll," Thor sighed. "He might have just happened to be the person that picked up the Tesseract when the Hulk smashed into Tony, and he might have just disappeared into nowhere. We have no idea where he is and what he is doing."
Thor, though looking guilty while explaining this, had to hide a grin. His brother was alive. Well, his brother was also dead, but his brother was alive! It didn't make a lot of sense to him, but if any Loki was wandering around, it was Thor's Loki. Thor was no longer alone in the world, and he would search (with the Guardians of the Galaxy) the whole universe if it meant finding his little brother and making sure Loki didn't cause any more trouble.
Now, as Loki stood on the banks, his hands trembling with exhaustion, the knives shaking, he wondered if he could turn into a bird and fly away. Or a fish and swim away. It would take more glam and energy, which he didn't have.
"Loki," Fury was saying, "we know you must be confused. You just came from 2012 and have heard a lot of information."
Dr. Strange, Spiderman, Wanda, and Agent Barton arrived then, and they all joined Nick Fury, staring Loki down. Loki had been in this situation before. He could always get away later. Lowering his knives, Loki put them back in his sleeves and started towards the bank.
The SWAT team hosted their stun guns and tazers at him and Loki glared at them.
"Shoot me with one of those things," he growled, "and die instantly pathetic mortals."
Loki stepped unto the bank. Now he was within normal talking distance with SHIELD and the Avengers. They didn't move. Loki didn't either. He raised his hands slowly in the air, tilted his head to the right, and gave them a wide grin.
"Surprise!" he said. "I'm alive!"
