#10, Loki, Give Me the Tesseract

The warmth of Thor's hug was even warmer than the envelopment of the fire. Maybe because the fire was consuming, but Thor was full of love for his brother. Loki stood still, not moving and not wrapping his arms back around his brother. His face was smushed into Thor's wide chest and he could only see the color of Thor's shirt, which was... a sweatshirt?
Thor smelled like he had been electrified, which wasn't really a good smell, but it was familiar to Loki. He remembered the last time Thor had hugged Loki. That was a long time ago. Loki had been seventeen in God years. He still was seventeen and wouldn't turn eighteen for a couple more centuries. Thor was twenty-two, and looked older, which is why Loki's normal form looked older than seventeen as well.
Then Loki remembered the last time Thor had hugged Loki. It wasn't really a hug, but Thor's favorite gesture of endearment, which was his big hand cupping the back of Loki's head, and his other hand, clasping his shoulder. It made Loki feel special and wanted. The last time Thor had done that, Loki had muttered, "Sentiment," and had stabbed Thor.
Remembering this, Loki broke the moment and pushed Thor away.
"What are you doing here?" Loki asked, wanting to say something at least.
Thor raised his eyebrows. "What am I doing here? Loki, I've lived five years without you!"
Just then, Loki finally looked at Thor. Like, really looked at him. Thor's abs had softened into belly fat (but not as bad as in Endgame, now he's just a softyyyyyy) and his arms weren't as sculpted as they used to be. His hair was long again, but not as blond, and his beard was a little scruffier than the close shave he used to keep (he looks better than in Endgame, but he is still recovering from massive lost).
"What happened to you brother?" Loki asked, shocked. He had never seen his brother without his good looks. Who was this man before him?
"What?" Thor asked, "Do I have something on my face?"
Loki snickered. "You will never hear the end of this..."
Thor groaned. "Shut up, Loki. We need to get you home. You look exhausted."
Loki had so many questions and he could see that Thor had many questions as well. But behind Thor's back, Loki saw and heard helicopters touch down, as well as an assortment of SHIELD aircrafts.
"Listen Thor," Loki said urgently, "Do you remember the Secretary? The man who's above Agent Fury?"
"Yeah..." Thor said slowly. He turned and saw the copters and his eyes narrowed. He looked back at Loki. "Don't worry about them brother, I will vouch for you. They shall not hurt you."
Loki's heart softened, but he knew Thor could only do so much. As the least, they would take the Tesseract from him and send him to Asgard. At the most, they would torture and kill him.
"No-listen Thor- pay attention. The secretary is planning to bring back all the Avengers."
"Oh!" Thor said, "That's awesome!"
Loki rolled his eyes. Why did his brother have to be so trusting and innocent? "No, Thor, it's not good. He's going to mess everything up! He could bring Thanos back! Mother always said to never try to bring back the dead."
Saying 'mother' brought tears to Loki's eyes immediately. Thor, not very smart with plans, but always knowing when his brother was affected, said, "Loki... when did you find out?"
Loki sniffed, trying to hide the tears. He had distracted himself with his Tesseract mission, but now with his brother in front of him, he couldn't help but be reminded of his family. His lip wobbled. "Thor..." he choked out.
"LOKI!" Nick Fury's voice yelled into a microphone, "please give Thor the Tesseract!"
Thor looked at Loki.
Loki looked at Thor.
"Brother..." Loki said, giving Thor an innocent smile, "these are the same people who want to bring Thanos back-"
"And what exactly are you planning to do with that Tesseract?" Thor asked, his eyes full of suspicion, which saddened Loki's heart to see the familiar expression.
"I won't bring back Thanos, that's for sure," Loki said sassily.
"Loki, I know you just learned about Mother's death-" Thor said slowly, "but you can't bring her back."
"WHY?" Loki screamed suddenly. All his anger and sadness started to rise to the surface.
Thor started to say something, but then he stopped himself, a knowing look on his face. "Go," he said simply.
"What?" Loki asked in surprise.
"Go to Mother and let her explain. I've already been there."
Loki was trying to suppress his sobs and they lodged in his throat and he started hiccupping tears. "What if," he whispered, "What if I want to stay there?"
Thor's eyes shadowed with sadness. "Loki, the past is past. Don't live there."
"Fine," Loki said. "If I come back to you though, it means that I'm not here to attack earth or anything, so don't let those morons kill me."
"I won't let anyone hurt you," Thor said fiercely.
Loki opened his arms and with surprise, Thor met him in a parting hug.
"Thor?" Loki asked.
"Yes Loki?"
"I'm sorry."
"No Loki-"
And with that, Loki stabbed Thor and disappeared with the Tesseract.
