After parting with his mother (though not permanently), Loki snuck into the dungeons and watched himself reading a book behind the electric shield. He sighed.
"I don't know what to do," he thought to himself. But seeing himself languishing in the dungeons made his skin crawl. He hated being trapped.
Quickly obtaining keys from a guard, he threw up an illusion of Loki reading, safe behind the shield, and entered the prison.
"Loki," he said, feeling awkward addressing himself.
Loki, the Ragnorok Loki, jumped from his seat and threw the book he had been reading at modern day Loki, who was disguised as Thor.
"Why have you come?" he yelled, "And... how did you get in here so stealthily?"
"Don't ask stupid questions," Thor (Loki) replied. "I'm going to break you out of here, but I also have a lot of information for you."
Loki raised his eyebrows but leaned against the wall in silent intrigue.
Thor (Loki) started, "Thanos-"
Loki winced.
"Thanos," Thor (Loki) continued, "will find all the infinity stones and destroy half the population, then the Avengers will reverse things, but some people die, including you and Stark."
Loki's mouth actually dropped. "Whaaaa..." he said, his brain's gears spinning in a million directions.
"As you already know, there's many alternate universes now that we're messing with time, but in one of these universes, I think you can stop Thanos and take the Infinity Gauntlet for yourself."
Loki narrowed his eyes. "And why would you want me to do that? And who are you anyway? You're definitely not Thor, he's not very smart."
Thor sighed and dropped his disguise, appearing as himself: Loki.
Ragnorok Loki didn't seem surprised. "I guess one thing hasn't changed," he said.
"You're right," New York Loki said, "but I've got something you don't..." and he pulled out the Tesseract.
Younger Loki's eyes widened. "That's how you found me..."
"This may only be one infinity stone," New York Loki explained, "but combined with our intelligence, it can get us the entire universe."
"So... I'll get the infinity gauntlet and rule the universe, but what are you going to do?" younger Loki asked.
"I've got a little research to do," older Loki said, "Staying one step ahead is hard, but too hard for Loki. But we're going to need to stay in contact."
"But we're the same," Loki said, confused.
"The same being, doing two different things?" New York Loki asked.
"Fine. How are we going to stay in contact?"
New York Loki took the Tesseract and smashed it on the floor with all his strength. The cube broke into a million pieces and it left only the stone, which Loki picked up easily in his two fingers.
"Be back in a sec," he said with a wink. Then he envisioned one second ago, and appeared a second before, seeing himself disappear, holding the tesseract stone. Before he could disappear, Loki grabbed the Tesseract from his past self's (by one second) fingers, and was suddenly holding two space stones.
The other Loki gaped.
"Here you go," Loki said with a smile, handing the old Loki the stone. "Go get that infinity gauntlet. Whether you want to steal it from Thanos, or gather the stones yourself, do what you need to do."
"How do I know you're not setting me up?" the old Loki asked.
New York Loki frowned. "Loki. We are the same. We want the same things. I want you to rule the universe. And with the tesseract, we can never die."
Old Loki nods and went to fix New York Loki's hair (a normal Loki thing to do), "Okay. But what-" he suddenly gasped, holding his head. The tesseract dropped out of his hand and skidded across the floor as Loki fell to the ground.
"What's going on?" New York Loki asked, just as a splitting head ache hit him full on. In a moment, both Loki's were on the floor.
At first, Loki thought he was dying. But then the memories of the Ragnorok Loki flooded his mind. Instead of the Tesseract falling out of the case, Thor had it and they went back to Asgard. Loki remembered Odin saying, "YOU'RE BIRTHRIGHT WAS TO DIE!" and Frigga coming to visit him.
It was over in a moment. Both Loki's sat on the ground, staring at one another.
"Did you just see all my memories?" New York Loki asked.
"Yes," younger Loki gasped, "but they're not your memories anymore. They're mine too now."
"It must be because we can read other people's memories," Loki said, "now we Loki's can share eachother's."
The Loki's grinned. "We are going to rule the Universe."
