In The Dark

Chapter 19

~ Jocelyn's P.O.V. ~

We've been sitting here for hours just watching tv in the living room. We all have sat in silence as we watch the news, all shocked.

"Niall Horan and Liam Payne have been spotted with new girls! Who are they?" the news reporter starts.

I stand up from the couch and turn to the boys.

"Umm. Are you okay?" Harry asks me.

"Well no. I like not being the center of attention at school," I say. Niall stands up.

"Hey," he says with a soft voice. "It'll be okay."

I hug him and nod my head. He kisses my neck and picks me up and starts to run.

"What are you doing?!" I yell. He laughs and runs out into our backyard towards the pool. "No!" I yell, laughing.

He gets right up next to the pool and throws me in. The cold water engulfs my body as I scream. I hit the bottom of the pool and lay there for a second.

I almost forgot I had to breathe. I lay there and think about my mom. My friends. My life. Everything.

It's just so peaceful down here.

Then I feel the water ripple above me, and feel someone wrap their arms around me. They pulled me up out of the water, and I gasp for air.

I choke on the water, my lungs burn. "Oh my God! Are you okay?!" Niall asks. "I'm so sorry."

He helps me out and we sit on the edge of the pool, hand in hand.

"It's okay. I was just thinking about stuff," I say. I then smile and push Niall into the water. He screams.

I jump in after him and splash the water. I notice that the other boys were standing there watching everything.

"C'mon!" I yell at them. "Let's swim!"

They all start to run towards the pool and jump in. We all laugh and splash each other.

"I missed this," I smile at all of the boys.

We swim around and splash around for awhile longer before climbing back out.

I run inside, shivering. The air was chilling. I grab a towel and a drink, and sit on a chair in the kitchen.

"Hey! Don't get the floor all wet. You'll ruin the tiles!" Liam scolds me.

"Oh, sorry daddy," I say, and fake pout. A smile creeps its way onto my face.

He hits my arm and I run upstairs to change into dry clothes. I pick something out and lay it on my bed. I then head into my bathroom and turn on the water.

My phone dings and I run over to my dresser.

*new text message!*

"Hey, have you seen the news?" says the message. It's from Alyssa. I didn't even know she had my number.

"Why?" I answer.

"There is a 'rumor' that apparently you're paying Niall a lot of money to sleep with you..." she answers back.

"WHAT?!" I text back. "Come over now."

I quickly wash my hair and get out. I put on a cute lacy crop top and high waisted shorts. I put my wet hair into a messy bun and run downstairs.

I walk into the kitchen, seeing the boys in deep conversation. They all turn towards me and it goes completely silent.

"So, I'm guessing you've heard?" I ask them.

"Heard what?" Louis asks.

"The news today?" I mumble.

"No?" Niall says suspiciously.

"Well apparently I'm paying you to sleep with me," I say, my eyes starting to water.

Niall slowly moves toward me. "I'm sure no one believes that," he tries to comfort me.

"No Niall, that isn't going to work. Not this time. Don't try to comfort me. It feels like pity and I can't take anymore pity. I get enough of the that already. I invited Alyssa over. I just need a girls night."

"Okay, I'll give you space. I get it," He says and nods his head. He gives me a quick hug and walks into the living room.

~ 20 minutes later ~

Alyssa walks in the front door and instantly hugs me.

"Hey, you ready for a girls night?" she smiles.

"Yes please!" I say and smile. She takes my hand and leads me to her car.

We head to a club in downtown.

I head straight to the bar and order a drink.

"Don't go too crazy," Alyssa warns me.

"I'm fine," I say. I chug down my drink and head to the dance floor.

'Anaconda' starts playing and I just let everything go. Forget about Niall. Forget about the boys. Forget about the future. Forget about my mom.

And I went so crazy. Because that's the only thing I remember.
