In The Dark

Epilogue

~ Niall's P.O.V. ~

I wake up in a jolt. But then I remember I need to stay quiet. I turn my head as slow as I can. I open my right eye, which is closest to the ground.

I see Louis laying down on the ground, his left hand over his nose, and a small pool of blood on the floor.

I look up to see Jocelyn grabbing for a gun. Her mom bites down on her hand. Jocelyn face contorts and she screams at the top of her lungs.

It takes everything inside of me to stay on the ground. I need to wait for the right time. I hear a strange noise as Jocelyn rips her hand from her mom's
mouth. I cringe.

Jocelyn holds up the gun. Suddenly she almost freezes. As if she's thinking hard about something. Her mom takes that moment to hit the gun out of her hand and point it at Jocelyn.

"Dammit," Jocelyn whispers under her breath.

My heart rate increases. I debate on how long I should wait. I don't want to be the reason Jocelyn dies.

"Now that I have you in a good position, what are you going to do?" her mom spits.

I hear Jocelyn spit on her mom and she laughs. Her mom is disgusted, as she groans and takes a step back.

I can't wait any longer, I have to get up. I have to save the girl that I love. I stand up slowly, my head pounds. But then I remember that she threw me against the wall, which made me angry again.

She holds the gun up to me, and Jocelyn looks back. We make eye contact, and I wink at her. I don't think she sees.

But she attacks her mother, dragging her to the ground. I grab the other cop's stray gun lying on the floor.

Jocelyn drag her mother closer to me. I hold up my gun, pointing it at her head. Jocelyn quickly grabs a hold of her mom's gun, but her mom expected the move, and she fired the gun.

Jocelyn winces and I knew it hit her somewhere. Out of pure anger I take the butt of the gun and hit her across the face. Jocelyn doesn't notice her mom groaning, because I can tell the pain is slightly taking over her.

But she laughs, so that Jocelyn will think it didn't harm her. She gets hair in her face and gags. Just as she begins to whip the hair out of her face I throw the gun to Jocelyn.

I now have nothing to protect myself. But that is okay, Jocelyn needs to live.

Her mom quickly realizes that Jocelyn now has the gun, and turns her attention towards me. She wants to break Jocelyn, and she knows one of her only weaknesses. Me.

Jocelyn keeps her gun on her mom, but she looks between the two of us. She's scared. All I want to do is hold her in my arms and tell her that everything will be okay.

Jocelyn gives me a pleading look, for once she doesn't know what to do.

"You can't kill Ni, you can't!" Jocelyn yells. A single tear falls down her face. She wipes it off quickly.

"I'll kill him if I need to. If he gets in my way, you know I'll shoot him. Just like I shot Connor." That hurt. And you could tell Jocelyn was slowly falling apart.

"I love you," I say, as loud as my body will let me. Which wasn't very loud. I frown slightly.

"I love you too, please don't ever forget that," Jocelyn cries. She holds the gun up to her head and gets ready to pull the trigger.

"No!" her mom and I yell in unison.

Jocelyn sobs and her mother wavers the gun. Jocelyn whips the gun around, her face concentrated, and she pulls the trigger. That's my girl.

"Ahh!" her mom yells. Jocelyn missed the fatal shot she needed. Her mom smirks and holds the gun back up to me.

Jocelyn keeps her gun positioned on her mother. Her eyes not leaving her mother's face.

I suddenly decide that I don't want to just stand her and die. My body tenses thinking of death and what it would feel like. My heart speeds quickly and almost comes out of my chest.

I hear a gunshot, but I don't know who shot it. I feel a pain in my body, but I don't know if it's from a bullet wound or my own fear.

and that's theeee end! it's been a long journey and i loved writing this! it's sad that it's come to an end, especially on a cliffhanger. but i had planned on writing a sequel and if i do, the prologue to that book will be up soon! keep a look out for another update here, i will let you know if i decide to update! love you guys ♥️
