Since I'm ahead of schedule, I thought I would upload more frequently. Idk if I'll keep it up but I'll try.
Things start to get pretty rough in these next couple of chapters, so here, have some very crappy, messy digital doodles I did of Hara
The next day of training was pretty much the same for everybody. I spent most of it trying to get probability to work and seeing how using it would effect my agility. I ended up getting a fair share of attention to, since I was doing all kind of flips for hours, but it was mainly from Mineta.
It didn't take us long to cook our below-average stew for dinner, but we all ate it anyway. Mina was pretty much teasing me the entire time we were eating about Todoroki, who I hadn't spoken to all day. I had to punch her in the leg to finally get her to be quiet, I don't need her to constantly remind me of him, I do that enough myself.
After eating, Mina and everybody who didn't pass the exams are dragged off to do extra classes whilst she practically cries. I can't help but find it funny.
It doesn't take long for the rest of us to find out what's in store for us to do.
"A test of courage...?" I mutter mainly to myself. The classes have to take it in turns to try and scare the other with some weird haunted forest scenerio. Class 1B are up first to do the scaring and the wild wild pussycats decide it will be better for us to go in pairs.
Since there are people in the extra classes with Aizawa, there's an even number of us instead of the normal odd, meaning it works out pretty well.
I end up getting paired up with Midoriya, and we're going last. Me and Midoriya get along pretty well despite not ever talking too much. That's probably on Midoriya's part though, he's probably one of the most approachable people in our class, not to mention one of the strongest. He might be plain, but I could definitely see him being the protagonist of some weird anime series.
"Hey, swap with me." I turn around from where I'm stood and watch Bakugou go from person to person, trying to get them to swap places with him. When I notice who he's working with, I realise why and I can't help but burst into laughter. He's desperately going around trying to swap out Todoroki for pretty much anyone. He suddenly makes direct eyecontact with me.
"Hey!" He yells, making me smirk, "you get along with the half and half bastard don't ya? Who are you working with? Swap with me,!"
"Sure," I say coolly, "but I don't think that'll be fair on Midoriya."
Bakugou basically stops in his tracks and growls something I don't make out before walking away to bother someone else. I'm glad I was put with Midoriya, since I'm not up for being out with Todoroki. I feel so complicated around him, I'm not up for going into the woods alone with him. Honestly, I'm not okay being alone with him fullstop because it feels like my heart is trying to run away from me, so I've tried my best to not go near him."
"How the hell did you put up with that?" I ask as I turn towards Midoriya.
"He wasn't always that bad." He gives me an awkward chuckle, it's clearly a bit of a sensitive topic, so I choose to avoid it for my own sake.
We're just sitting around, waiting for our turn to go into the forest for a really long time, until a suddenly get a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I turn around to face the forest and I slowly begin to back away from it until I see something the I should not be seeing.
Thick, black smoke is billowing into the sky. Panic consumes me in a second.
"Mendalay!" She turns to look at me, "there's smoke!"
"Stay out of our way, kitty cats." I turn around to an horrific scream as Pixie Bob is slammed into the ground by a group of terrifying villains.
I don't recognise any of them from the USJ attack, so they must be new recruits. New, horrible recruits of the League of Villains.
"Everyone get going!" Mendalay screams at us, "and remember no fighting! Lead the way class president!"
Iida quickly tries to push us away from the fight and Midoriya steps forward, telling Iida to go on without him.
"Mendalay, I know where he is!" She looks shocked at his sudden out burst, but gives him a stiff nod before Midoriya runs off into the forest.
There he goes again, off to help someone just like a hero should. I watch his back vanish from our view, as I stand there, unmoved.
I turn to watch the stand off between the remaining pussycats and the villains and I find myself unable to move away.
How are they here? Why do they have to be here? It feels like I haven't been bake to get rid of villains for two years now. I've always been surrounded by some form of chaos, from Ryu and his old friend Natsuki's hectic training routine and the pure chaotic energy the pair possessed, to being in the run to protect my sister. It feels like I've never had any kind of break from something stressful going on.
And I don't need one. Even in the face of all the chaos I've been through, I've stood strong and kept fighting in every situation, and I don't plan on stopping that any time soon. I've fought to protect people since I could protect them, why should I stop that now?
My classmates are out there and so are class B, I don't know what trouble they might be caught in, but maybe I could get them out of it. Thank God Mina's in that class thing.
I feel my heart drop as I realise that Todoroki is out there, but that quickly stops. He's the most capable person in put class and the one of the most capable I've ever met, falling second to Ryu. But not everyone is as capable as him, and they might need some assistance.
"Hara, come on." Iida grabs my wrist, trying to get me to follow him, but I instantly pull away. I feel that now familiar click that means probability has kicked in, which also means I'm flashing my weird demon eyes at Iida, which is enough to get him to step back. I wasn't meant to do that, but I guess it came across as a warning to back off.
"Mendalay!" I scream after turning away from Iida, "I'm going to help the others and see if anyone's been hurt!"
"Hara are you insane?!" She yells back. "You're not doing that! Go back with Iida and the others. You're not getting hurt on my watch."
"What if someone put there has been seriously injured?!" She looks over her shoulder at me, wide eyed and shocked. "I have the biggest chance in finding them! You know that because you saw me training."
There's a painfully long pause as the villains creep closer to her, she's going to have to start fighting any second now.
"No fighting and get back as soon as you can, whether you find anyone or not. If you find anybody that's unharmed, tell them to go straight back to camp base!"
I'm shocked she went for it, but I push my lips together in a strained smile and give her a stiff nod, before turning on my heels and running off into the dangers I'll find in the forest.
