Percy's POV

Summer was almost over and soon we would be in the seventh grade. I inwardly groaned just thinking about it. School, "ughhh!" I thought. That place was like living hell sometimes. Lucky for me I had Annabeth to help keep me sane and at least Chiron isn't too bad of a teacher. He let us do a unit on Greek Mythology and I can honestly say that it and Marine Biology are about the only two subjects I actually like. At least Annabeth helps me with math because then I know I would be goner.

It was the weekend before our last week of summer and my mom decided to take me and Annabeth to the beach. I was so excited!! A day at one of my favorite places and with my two favorite people. Could I get any luckier? I thought not.

My mom was driving me over to the Chase house now. I normally always sat upfront when my mom drove me places, but today I chose to sit in the backseat so that I could talk with Annabeth on the ride over to the beach. My mother noticed when we got in the car and gave me a look of confusion through the rear-view mirror.

"I wanted to be able to talk to Annabeth on the way over." I explained like it made all the sense in the world.

"Ah I see." She said with a look of enlightenment and a hint of a smirk.

I looked out the window as my mom drove us there.

Once we got there I bounced out of the car as soon as my mom had the car in park.

"Whoa, slow down Percy!" She called out to me but I was already half way to the front door. I looked back at her after I rang the doorbell to see her smiling and giggling. To that I smiled to myself.

Then the door opened to reveal Annabeth's father, Frederick Chase.

"Percy! Hey how's it going? Its good to see you again!" He barreled out as he gave me a big smile and reached his hand out for me to shake. Mr. chase's usual greeting to me. Since I had met Annabeth we had gone to each others houses a lot so I found myself getting to know her father more and enjoying talking to him.

I shook his outstretched hand.

"I'm doing well Mr. Chase." I said with a wide grin. "And its good to see you again too!"

Mr. Chase offered me one more smile before turning  and walking towards the stairs and calling for Annabeth. I followed him into the house. And no its not creepy! He always invited me in anyways.

"Annabeth, Percy is here!!" He shouted.

There was some shuffling upstairs and then Annabeth came bounding down the stairs with a black jaw- string bag in hand, wearing her usual jean shorts and orange shirt. Along with blue flip flops and her hair pulled up in a messy ponytail. Annabeth always wore clothes over her swimsuit whenever we went to the beach, so I learned not to question it. When she got down the stairs she came to stand in front of us.

" Hey Percy!" She exclaimed with a bright smile.

"Hey! Long time no see." I said and I stepped forward and brought Annabeth in for a hug. To which she gladly hugged me back. It was a quick hug and we both pulled away at the same time, making eye contact with each other and smiling.

"Ready to go?" I asked her curiously.

She smiled again. "Yep, all ready to go."

She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the house. "Bye dad!" She shouted over shoulder behind her.

"Bye Mr. Chase!" I yelled with a smile over my shoulder as I was being pulled out the door.

A second later we were almost to the car and Mr. Chase was standing at the door chuckling.

"Bye guys, have fun!" He yelled to us. He waved to my mom with a grateful smile, which she returned with a wave back and a sweet smile.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once we pulled into the parking lot at the beach, me and Annabeth raced out of the car with our beach day supplies in our hands. We ran down to the sand.
"Last one to the water is a Seaweed Brain! "She shouted as she started her sprint to the water.
"Cheater!" I yelled as I ran to try and catch up with her.
She ended up beating me by about 20 feet. She's always been the fastest one out of the two of us, even when she's not cheating. We dropped our stuff down a little ways from the waters edge.
I stood next to her trying to catch my breath with my hands on my lower thighs leaning forward.
"You cheated." I said with a heavy breath out.
"Aw come on, you know I would have won anyways." She said with a bright grin looking down at me.
"Maybe." I said with a pout.
Just then I thought of the perfect way to get even with her. Annabeth may have always been the fastest runner but I was stronger and a better swimmer than she was. I started to pretend to go into a coughing fit.
Annabeth started to look worried. She came closer and put a hand on my back.
"Percy.. cough*....are.. cough*... you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone.
I took that as the moment to make my move. I stood up straight, picked her up, and threw her over my shoulder all one motion.
"Percy what in the name of all the Gods are you doing?!!" She screamed as she banged her fists against my back in an obviously furious and annoyed fashion. I ignored her and ran into the surf, getting to where the water was up to my waist and then throwing her in, shorts, shirt, and all.
She resurfaced a few moments later with a glare in her eyes and spitting some water out of her mouth.
"You, Percy Jackson, are officially dead!" She screamed with a death glare in her eyes and a light frown on her face.
My brain went into panic mode and I thought "Oh dam! She might actually kill me this time."
I immediately start to swim away, but she caught up to me and splashed me. I splash back and it sparks a splash war that lasted for about the next 30 minutes. During our fight my mom had caught up to us with towels and food in hand that she set out on the sand a little ways away from us.
For the rest of the day we talked, swam, ate, and of course fought.
"Best beach day ever!" I thought after we had dropped Annabeth off at her house at the end of the day.
