SOPHIA

🌹

Senior year was hectic and it was lowkey stressing me out. It was already April and most students were either freaking out about exams or prom. Aside from that, I had to already apply to colleges and university's and the fees for those applications was killing me. I tried to study every chance I got between work and classes. It was only until my sophomore year of high school that I started getting straight A's and I wanted to keep that up.

Bath & Body Works never truly is full on the weekdays which gave me a little help. Shea, my daring coworker, was helping me out on this too. When she saw that the place was basically empty, she'd courage me to go to the back room and study. She was a college student so their break began earlier and now she was "stress free".

"Girl, don't worry." She waved me off. "Ryan and I can handle this when it's a deserted place. I'll call you if the place miraculously fills up."

"Thank you so mu-"

"Sophia!" Someone gasped. "You work here?"

Janella whateverherlastnamewas is a pain in the ass and it took every inch of self control to not push her scented candles and lotions off the table. She was one of Zabdiel's "friend," but was always all over him. Her pesky little mouth never knew when the line was crossed. Richard told me to keep an eye out for her because Zabdiel and her used to be a thing. He said Zabdiel actually loved her (despite being 20 years older) but she didn't love him.

"Janella!" I responded anticlimactically. "Did you find everything you needed?"

"Oh yeah," she feigned her sugar sweet smile. "Always come when they have deals with the candles."

"I'll help you," Shea offered already moving to the register.

"No, it's okay. I want Sophia; nothing personal though."

Shea gave me a look and as much as I wanted to leave, I gave her the ok. "Go ahead, Shea. I'll take her."

"So," the annoying brunette hummed cluelessly as she picked at the bath bombs below the counter. "Everything good?"

I never liked rushing whenever I scanned items because I didn't want any misunderstandings but I would do anything to avoid her bitter words. "Yeah. Everything's good."

"Mmm," she pursed her lips and sighed. "I'm glad you're taking things this way. You're so strong, Sophie."

"Strong?" I asked sharply expecting a toxic comment coming. "What are you talking about?"

"I heard you and Zabdiel are taking a break." She pouted dramatically. "But girl, don't worry. You deserve someone so much better, honestly"

"I'm sorry but where did you hear that?" I laughed sarcastically while shoving the candles without wrapping paper.

"Oh well, I assumed since-"

"Well, no," I mockingly smiled. "Zabdiel and I are still together. Everything is so good between the two of us."

"Huh," she embarrassingly laughed. She inserted her card into the black machine and shrugged. "Then where is he?"
