"You ready?"
My ears perk up at the sound of Taehyung's deep voice and I turn my head to him, searching for a distinct expression in his eyes, but all he seems to give off is wonder and concern.
I nod slowly, giving one last glance over my shoulder to count all five boys crouched down, waiting for orders.
Namjoon, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook. They're all here.
Hey, don't worry.
My eyes trail off to meet Taehyung's, whose eyebrows are furrowed the slightest bit, indicating that he's worried.
They're going to be okay.
Biting into my bottom lip, I force a faint smile before looking back in front of me, hands pushing the bush further down to be able to see the castle.
At the entrance, several guards are walking around, eyes streaming the surroundings.
Are we really doing the right thing?
[flashback]
"This," I turn the bag upside down, making several blue corn cobs fall onto the ground, "this is it."
Everyone standing around me stare at me confusedly, except for Taehyung, whose eyes plead me to not go any further.
Don't. Please. Stop.
Those words are ringing back and forth through his mind, causing guilt to swallow half of my soul, but I don't let it get to me just yet.
"Umm... not to be negative or anything but..." Jungkook raises an eyebrow as he picks up one of the cobs. "How is this supposed to help us?"
I give Taehyung a look, taken aback a bit when I realize he was already glaring at me. His bottom lip is tucked between his teeth, a frown covering his face as he stares right through me.
Please...
He finally gives in, cracking a loud groan before he steps up and join me in the center of the circle.
"Those corn cobs aren't of any kind," he begins as he snatches the vegetable from Jungkook's palms. "They grew out of the fertilization of something called the antidote."
Eyebrows are furrowed and whispers are exchanged as soon as the antidote is revealed, all more confused than another.
"When I was 15 years old..." he continues, my heart clenching as I already know where the story is heading. "More precisely; when my father was murdered," his eyes are back on me, causing me to swallow the heavy lump sitting at the back of my throat, "he asked me to grant him a wish as he was inhaling and exhaling his last couple of breaths."
