Chapter Twenty-Four: I choose Katherine

"I was driving one night on a small highway when I came across this car. It was flipped and it seemed that the driver got away. I found a girl in the backseat, who was dead. She was about my age and there was something that reminded her of me." 

"What was it?" Elena asks 

"It was another one of us." I look at her

"Another doppelganger?" She looks confused 

"Yes. Her name was Nina Dobrev, Nikolina Dobreva to be exact and she was an actor."  

"So this movie has her in it?" Damon questions 

"Not exactly. You see, Klaus had recently found me and when I found the girl dead I knew I had my new life. My new life as Nina Dobrev. I buried her body and pretended to be her when the cops finally got to the scene of the accident. I still am Nina Dobrev and I have never told her family that their real daughter is dead. I visit them every now and then to keep up the lie." 

"Why did you take her life? Lie to her parents?" Elena looks towards me

"I know what it's like to lose a daughter and I just couldn't let them feel that. I might be a colossal bitch but I could never let someone feel like I did. I had to live with them for a year or so before I "Nina" went off to college. I've been an "actor" ever since. I'm surprised Klaus never caught me." I finish

"Wow. That's really nice. Weird, but nice." Caroline smiles at me 

"Who knew below that mean, bitchy exterior there is a nice girl." 

"I suppose it was the first time in five hundred years that I actually felt like the person I was before my whole life changed. Before I turned into a psychopath who only cares about herself and doesn't take responsibility for anything she does." 

"I would like to learn about your human life sometime, Katherine." Elena grabs a hold of my hand 

"I don't like talking about it, but I guess I can try." I smile at her 

"Let's watch this movie, see how good Katherine is." 

Silas's POV

After awhile of thinking I decide to go back to the Salvatore house and talk to everybody involved. I walk in the door and everything is cleaned up, but no one is anywhere to be seen. I decide to go upstairs to Stefan's room. I come up and see Stefan sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands.

"Stefan, where is Amara?" I ask

He looks up at me and points at his bathroom. 

"She's in the shower." He replies 

"And where is our crazy ex?" 

"Just your crazy ex. Qetsiyah and I are still together." He looks away from me

"Did you fall in love with crazy? Or did she threaten you?" I ask in an accusatory tone 

He speeds a few inches in front of my face. 

"She didn't threaten me. Unlike you I actually have feelings for Qetsiyah. Plus, she's not as crazy as she used to be." 

"Isn't she? She resurrected Amara all because YOU kissed Katherine. She's taking it out on Katherine for something you did. And for what? I'm not going to choose Amara over Katherine just because she was my first love. Unlike you I appreciate Katherine more than you ever did or ever will." I turn around and bump into Qetsiyah 

"Hello again Silas. Came back for Amara?" She smiles

"No, I came here to tell you and her that it's Katherine and it's always going to be Katherine." 

Qetsiyah's smile turns to a frown and she walks past me bumping into my shoulder. I turn around and look at her with anger. 

"If that's so, where is Katherine?" She asks

I stay silent and a smile slowly creeps back up on her face.

"Wait? Did- did she break up with you?" Qetsiyah cocks her head to the side 

"That's none of your business." I snap 

"Katherine broke up with you and Amara is back. You and Amara could leave together, you don't even have to tell Katherine. Stefan and I can keep your secret, we can let her down easy." 

We are interrupted when Stefan's bathroom door opens and Amara walks out. 

"Stefan, do you have any-" She stops when she sees me "Clothes." 

"Amara, we are going now. Get you away from that crazy bitch." I snark at Qetsiyah 

I grab her by her hand and start dragging her out of the room. "I'll be glad to know your decision, Silas!" Qetsiyah shouts behind me 

I get her to my room and slam the door behind us. I sit her on the bed and go and rummage through the drawers. I pull out a shirt, a pair of pants, and a pair of shoes. 

"Here, you can wear this for now. I'll wait outside for you to get dressed." I go to walk out before she grabs my wrist and I half turn to her

"You can stay, you have seen me naked before."  

"I'm with Katherine. The sooner you and Qetsiyah understand that, the better for all of us." I gently get out of her grip and walk out 

I take my phone out of my pocket and dial Katherine's number. It goes straight to voicemail and I decide to call again and the same exact thing. She's still mad, I get it. I have majorly fucked this up. The door opens from behind me and Amara steps out. 

"These clothes fit me perfectly." She looks down at her feet and then looks back up at me 

"We need to go shopping. You can't wear my girlfriends clothes all the time."

"Girlfriend? Qetsiyah said Katherine broke up with you." She say innocently 

"And I intend on getting her back." I walk down the stairs 

"Why? I am here standing before you, your soulmate and you choose to be with her." 

"I have spent four months on the other side. The first month I was waiting for the day I got to see you again. The second month getting over your death. The third month finding a way to get from the other side to the living side, and the fourth month I fell in love with Katherine. Then we came back to life and I have been in love with her ever since. So yes, Amara, I choose Katherine."
