Chapter One: The Travelers' Return

Katherine's POV

"Silas! We need to hurry." I yell towards the wind

He comes running from behind a tree and heads towards me.

"Let's go." He say running towards Bonnie

I follow after him and that's when I feel somebody pull me back.

"Lexi. Let me go." I try pulling away and her grip gets tighter

"You aren't going back Katherine."

Her grip loosens as she gets flown back. I look and Silas holding his hand up and he looks at me.

"Meet you on the other side." He winks and touches Bonnie and then disappears.

I notice as leaves start blowing around me and then the wind picks up and gets stronger. I push through it and I push my hands into Bonnie and I go through her and I look around and realize I'm back. I look around and notice that I'm in the ground. 'What the hell' I think to myself. I start moving my arm and try to get the dirt off of me. I get my hand out and something pulls on it, helping me from the shallow grave. I get out and cough looking at my arms and hands covered in dirt. I look up and I see Silas.

"Where the hell am I?" I ask

"The tomb. Apparently Damon buried you here. Come on lets go get you cleaned up."

"Wait aren't we going to go see what happens with the others."

"I think its best that right now we lay low. Or leave and start somewhere new. You have a second chance, use it wisely. Now like I said lets get you cleaned up."

He grabs my hand and pulls me with him. We walk for awhile before we get to a car, a car I noticed.

"Is that Nadia's car?" I asked stunned

"I saw her when I came to find you. She was about to come get your body. She saw me in the middle of the road covered in dirt and stopped and that's how I found you."

"Wait, How?" I ask

"She said that Damon buried you in the tomb and that's where she was heading so I told her what happened and she took me here."

He finishes and that's when Nadia gets out the car and runs over to me and pulls me into a hug.

"Nadia, I missed you." I smile

"And I missed you. Silas told me what happened and since when are you guys friends?" She asks

I look over to Silas and start laughing.

"Me and him, we aren't friends. We helped each other come back to life and that's all there is to it. Now we go our separate ways."

"I'm going to find a way to bring back Amara from wherever she is." He states

"That crazy one? Trust me you don't want to bring her back. She will just try and kill herself again. There is no sense."

"She is the love of my life. I need her." He says

"Please, nobody needs anybody. You want her. I saw how much she wanted to die, let her live in peace."

"But-. Nevermind,  You're right." He admits

"I'm always right. Now I really want to get this dirt off of me."

We all pile into Nadia's car and she drives off. Minutes later she stops at a motel.

"Really? You had to stop at this motel."

Silas looks at me confused.

"What's wrong with this motel?" He asks

"Its the motel that we stayed at when you were after her. Also, she hates motels. Silas, I trust you to get your own room."

"Nadia, we just came back from the dead. He has no money, surely you can spare a few for the night." I smile at her

"Fine, as long as I don't have to see his face ever again."

"Well, I can't promise that. I'm going to be staying in Mystic Falls, I quite like it here."

"You can promise that. Nadia wants to go back to Bulgaria and that's what we are going to do. I'm going to show her where I grew up and everything. I have family there that will let us stay." I state

"You have family there?"

"Yeah, we do. I bought the house when I got older, I moved there with my husband and two kids. They have family descended from them." Nadia says

"Do they know you are a vampire?" Silas asks

"Yes, they know all about Katherine and the whole situation. I already have a flight booked, I'll just add one more seat."

"I should get cleaned up now. Goodbye Silas. Go fall in love with some girl that ISN'T Amara." I smile at him

"It shouldn't be that hard. Maybe I will give Qetsiyah another try."

"Ha, don't count on it. She and Stefan have been..... well, you know." I laugh

"Seriously, Stefan?"

"Yup. She traded one doppelganger for another."

"Maybe I could do that too." He smirks

"I don't know how but you have fun with that." I snicker

"Oh, I will. I can promise you that Katherine. Goodnight." He waves goodbye

Nadia and I get into the hotel room and she pulls some clothes out of her suitcase and throws them on the bad.

"You can wear that."

I nod and grab a towel off the shelf and go into the bathroom closing the door. I turn the hot nob all the way to the left and the cold a little to the right. I strip my clothes off and step into the tub. I watch as dirt starts running down the drain and I grab the soap scrubbing my body really hard.

"Nadia!" I shout to her

"Yes?" She answers

"I can't reach my back, can you?" I ask

"Yeah."

She opens the shower curtain a little and I hand her the bar of soap and she rubs it all over my back and then I rinse and she repeats.

"That should be good."

"Thanks, Nadia. You really are a great daughter." I smile

"Don't expect me to call you mom."

"I won't, but I can't promise you won't say it. I know you are older than me but I can finally have a chance to be a good mother." I say

"That would be great." She says leaving the bathroom

I turn off the water and get out. I go into the room and get the clothes. Going back into the bathroom I get dressed. When I get out I see a toothbrush and toothpaste on the counter.

"Thank God." I exclaim

I get into the bed and I can feel myself drifting off to sleep.

"Goodnight Nadia."

With that, I close my eyes and go to sleep.
