The loud ringing of the alarm woke Jenna up the next morning. Groaning she sat up and looked at the clock.

8 am..

Not too early but she still felt dead tired. She got off the bed and headed to the adjoining bathroom to freshen up. When she stepped out again, she noticed May sitting on the bed waiting for her. She patted the empty space next to her and beckoned Jenna over. Jenna went and sat down beside her.

May looked at her kindly. She stroked her head and gently pushed a lock of hair behind Jenna's ear.

"Sweetie, I know this is all very hard for you. But please trust me. Talking to Betty is the best and only solution right now."

"But you don't understand. She hates me.. And scares the crap out of me."

May laughed softly, "Don't be silly Jenna. Betty is as soft as a teddy bear and as harmless as well. She's been around for almost a century. And her ancestors were the original inhabitants of Bedhill. They know everything that has happened around here for centuries. She will definitely know something about what's going on."

"I'm scared May. I don't want anything to happen to any of you because of me."

"Nothing is going to happen to any of us. You just take one day at a time and we will work everything out. Remember that you have Phil and me with you all the time. And of course, I don't have to say anything about Tyler! That boy will go to the end of the world and back if required just to ensure that you are okay."

Jenna felt her cheeks starting to heat up so she just smiled and nodded her head at May.

"But there is just one more thing," May continued. "I know there is something that you are not telling us. Why and what it is, I don't know but I trust you and believe that you know what you are doing. But at any point if you feel that you need to speak about it, please come to one of us immediately. I don't want this secret to be the reason that something goes wrong."

Jenna stared at May helplessly. She was torn. The logical part of her mind told her that she needed to tell May about Michelle but the irrational, frightened side of her forced her to keep quiet. Twice she opened her mouth to say something and both times she shut it back fearfully. The third time just as she decided to tell May about Michelle, the bedroom door opened and in stepped Tyler looking as handsome as ever in a dark blue button down shirt, jeans and messy, wet hair. He looked at both of them and smiled.

"What are you two ladies gossiping about so early in the morning?"

"Wouldn't you love to know!" laughed May getting up and pulling Jenna up with her. "Let's all go have some breakfast and then the two of you can head out."

Tyler and Jenna soon pulled up in front of a medium sized house with a well manicured lawn. It was the same as all the other houses: One storey, blue colour, brown fence. Again, the similarity spooked Jenna out.

"Tyler, why do all houses here look the same? Even yours. Your gate was black, this one is green but everything else is just the same on the outside."

"Honestly, I don't know. I guess I haven't really thought about it. We've all grown up here so it never really struck us as odd!"

Jenna looked around hesitantly and followed Tyler towards the main door. Her legs shook slightly and she could feel the fear rise in her stomach. She wiped her sweaty palms on her jeans and stood behind Tyler as he knocked loudly on the front door.

After a few minutes, they heard the shuffling of feet behind the door and slowly the door started opening. Jenna started to turn to  run away before it was too late but she felt Tyler take hold of her hand and give it a gentle squeeze. She immediately felt her cheeks go red and she was glad that he couldn't see her face. She was standing so close to him that she was sure that he could feel the heat radiating out of her face. Jenna shook her head and snapped herself out of her thoughts.

"What a time to think about Tyler this way!" she thought as she tried to peek over his shoulder.

"Tyler!" Jenna heard a lively voice chirp. She knew at once that it belonged to Betty. The fear once again started bubbling inside her.

"What a pleasant surprise! What brought you to my humble home today? Please come inside!"

"Hi Aunty Betty, I am fine thank you. How are you?" Tyler replied.

Betty opened the door wider to let them in.

"I've brought along a friend to meet you aunty. She has been having some trouble of late and we were hoping that you could help her."

"Of course I'd love to do whatever I can to he..."

Betty suddenly caught sight of Jenna.

"What the hell is she doing here?" Betty screeched at the top of her voice. "Get her out of my sight. She is evil. Get her OUT."

And with that she slammed the door shut on a very startled Tyler and a very frightened Jenna.

Both of them stared at the closed door in front of them.

"Come on, let's go!" said Jenna turning around and pulling Tyler behind her.

"Not so fast," Tyler held her back and knocked on the door once again.

"Come on Tyler. Just let it go please. Can't you see? The woman clearly has something against me."

"There must be some sort of misunderstanding. Aunty Betty is usually the nicest person to be around."

"Ya whatever."

"Jenna come on. Stop doing this."

"Doing what?? Can't you see what just happened? Are you blind?"

Tyler opened his mouth to reply when the door in front of him opened a little bit. Betty's tiny head poked out from behind it and she looked at the two of them.

"What do you want Tyler?"

"Aunty we just wanted to speak with you. Jenna really needs some help and we think only you might be able to help us. Please let us in for just a few minutes."

"I can't let her in. She's evil."

"She isn't at all. Just let us inside and you can see that for yourself."

Betty grumbled something to herself and slowly opened the door and gestured for them to come in.

Inside the house was small but quite comfortably furnished. As they walked towards the living room, Jenna could feel Betty's eyes boring into her back. It made her feel very uncomfortable and it took all her strength to stop herself from turning around and running away. The hall was well light and the walls covered with paintings and photographs. Tyler made his way over to the couch and sat down. Jenna rushed behind him and sat as close to him as she could. Betty sat in an old rocking chair opposite them and stared at Jenna intently.

"Tell me what you want Tyler," she addressed him but continued glaring at Jenna.

"I think it would be better if Jenna told you everything," he said and turned towards Jenna.

Jenna just stared ahead mutely.

"Jenna please talk to Betty. Tell her everything that has happened."

Jenna still refused to say a thing.

"What's your full name?" Betty suddenly asked her.

Startled, Jenna replied immediately, "Jenna ma'am. Jenna Smith."

"Where are you from? And why did you move here? Start from the very beginning," Betty ordered her.

"Well, I am from New York and it all started......"
