“.....and that is what led us here to you today,” Jenna concluded.

Betty stared at Jenna in silence.

“What is wrong?” Jenna asked her. “Don’t you believe me?”

“No, no! Of course I do,” replied Betty. “Okay, the two of you can leave now.”

“What?!” exclaimed Tyler and Jenna in unison.

“What do you mean we can leave now? I didn’t just sit here for the past hour, telling you everything about my life for you to just shoo me away like this.”

“Aunty Betty, you can’t help Jenna?”

“I never said that. God, the children of today are just so impatient. All I said was that you could leave. I never said I can’t help you. I need time to think about whatever you just told me. I think I know what could be the cause of all of this but before I say anything, I need to be sure about it all first.”

Betty stood up and headed towards the kitchen. Jenna and Tyler looked at each other helplessly.

“What do we do now?” Jenna whispered to him.

“I don’t know. Maybe we should leave like she told us to,” Tyler whispered back.

The two of them stood up to leave when a voice yelled out to them from inside.

“Don’t move. I will be right back.”

Soon Betty re entered the room with a tray in her hand. She set it down on the table in front of them and mentioned for them to have something. The tray was laden with a plate of freshly baked cookies and a pot of steaming hot tea. Gratefully, Jenna and Tyler began to tuck in.

“Jenna, I want you to come back and meet me tomorrow evening. My nephew will be home and I think he would be able to help us through this.”

“Umm.. okay.. But why?”

Betty sighed and looked at her with pity.

“I will answer all of your questions tomorrow. For now, I just need you to go home and stay there. Tyler, stay with her at all times. Even for a minute, do not leave her alone.”

“Okay Aunty. I will do that,” replied Tyler. “Thank you so much for your time. We will come back tomorrow.”

And with that the two of them headed out.

Betty locked the door after the two of them left and went and sat down on her couch. She pulled out a hanky from her skirt pocket and wiped her forehead. She was sweating uncontrollably and had been rattled to the bone when listening to Jenna. She had tried her best to put on a facade of being calm in front of them and thankfully it had worked. Now that the two of them had left, she was terrified. She took in deep breaths and tried to calm herself down. She poured herself a cup of tea and with shaky hands she picked up the cup and sipped at it.

“I thought it was all over the last time,” she mumbled to herself. “This is not supposed to be happening. I need Francis. Francis will know what to do.”

She picked up her phone and dialled a number.

“Hello?”

“It’s me. I met them. I’m afraid it’s not good. If what I suspect is true, bad things are going to happen. You need to be careful. Protect your family. You know what to do.”

Michelle watched as Tyler and Jenna walked out of Betty’s house and got into his car. She glared at them as they drove away.
