Everything was going to be fine.

That was what you were told.

Everything was going to be FINE.

That was the lie you told Rebecca.

EVERYTHING was going to be FINE.

That was the lie you told yourself.

Repeating those six simple words in your head nearly gave you hope that they would come true. It was dark and late, nearing almost 10:20 when your team got over into a good chunk of the forest. The clouds around you were dark like it was going to pour soon, despite Wesker's insistence for this to be a full length search Enrico was willing to go out a bit further before heading back before that happened.

The helicopter was unusually silent, or at least it felt that way. You all didn't necessarily make a habit of goofing off in the chopper when you were on a mission, but there was usually some friendly chatter going around. Your brain knew it was just the guys putting up a good example for Rebecca, but it was almost unsettling. Although Kenneth was clearly undisturbed by the situation, just the opposite actually as he looked like he was taking a very calming nap beside the door. Rebecca looked a little tired herself, as he head began to bob like she was about to fall asleep at any moment.

You reached out towards her about to tell her it was alright if she did, you weren't really doing anything anyway. The moment you opened your mouth is when everything began to fall apart. A loud noise, like a shotgun going off x6, came from behind Rebecca and the others. It was followed by a controlled panic as Enrico demanded to know that had happened, Edward answered but you'd much rather he didn't. It was an engine failure, you were crashing. You quickly moved Rebecca's hands to an area that she could better secure herself in before doing the same for yourself. Having never been in a crash before it was more than safe to say you were a bit afraid, but you could sure as hell tell you weren't the only one when you saw the faces of some of your other teammates. Normally the sight actually might have made you laugh if you weren't also scared for your life.

The crash was over quickly, and really no more damaging to any of you than a poorly inspected carnival ride. "Holy fuck Kevin! You trying to kill us?" Forest joked to relieve his own tension after we came to a complete stop. "Is everyone alright?" Enrico bellowed ignoring Forest's comment despite not really being the type to allow cursing. A crowd of various yeses were announced in response. "You sure, you do have the luxury of having two medics here today." you reminded them, not wanting anyone to be playing tough guy at a time like this. "Actually." Edward chimed in with a bit of shakiness to his voice. "I think my arm might be bleeding." he added oh so elegantly as blood steadily flowed from a gash about four inches below his wrist. "You think?" Kenneth said for you as sarcastically as he could as you sprung into action getting his wound cleaned and patched up as quickly as possible. Rebecca also put her skills to good use by insisting that she at least check everyone's eyes for signs of a serious concussion they were just too shocked to notice yet.

Luckily for everyone she didn't see any big signs in the team and Edward only had a little cut, probably caused by the busted window next to him, but other than bleed for awhile and sting for a little bit the wound was really no big thing to worry about.

"Can you reach H.Q.?" Enrico asked once everyone was taken care of properly. "Comms. were probably tossed around in the crash, it may take be awhile but I should be able to get them back on within the hour." Kevin replied as he put his sunglasses back on. Really they were to help keep the night glare from getting into his eyes as he flew, but they reminded you of a certain Captain at a time like this. Now you really had a bone to with Wesker and you were sure he would be hearing about it, if you survived that is. "Alright then everyone you heard him. No use staying in here and getting in his way let's head out." Enrico ordered. "Hey Captain, not to question your authority or anything but are your sure you don't want Richard or me to stay behind and help. It is like literally our job." Forest proposed reasonably. You knew the comms could be fixed those two would be able to do it and in less time too. "Not if Kevin can handle it himself. I want as many able bodies out here as possible to secure the perimeter, these woods are dangerous. Rebecca just stick close to me." Enrico explained, also very reasonably as you would feel a bit better knowing that those two would be with you all out there.

"Check the current position and investigate the surrounding area." Enrico ordered as soon as you were all outside. You made sure to keep an eye on Rebecca from your position by Richard, even though you knew the Captain wouldn't let anything happen to her you still worried about her. Fortunately your split us was very short lived as Rebecca of all people spotted something.

An overturned Military Police Transport Vehicle, with two soldiers sticking out from the windshield. Everyone quickly gathered around it to see what could be done about it but the s soldiers were long gone, along with who or whatever they were transporting. Rebecca, once again on the ball, found it was indeed a who. An ex marine 2nd lieutenant by the name of Billy Coen charged for killing 23 people and sentenced to death. With no body matching the picture in the file he was assumed to have escaped. Edward had come up with a theory that Coen had killed the two soldiers to escape, but as you kneeled down beside the group looking over the two bodies you weren't quite so sure. Something seemed very off about the corpses, they didn't really have any clear signs of death. Hardly any wounds on them at all and certainly none that would have killed them. No signs of strangulation, it almost looked like they were poisoned but that would be a very unlikely way for an inmate to kill two guards although not impossible you supposed. Still another thing that bothered you greatly was the way they were positioned outside the windshield, almost looked like they had crawled there desperately trying to get out of vehicle which really had nothing wrong with it on the inside other than some strange... antifreeze dripping all over it. Still that didn't seem to be a reason to literally claw your way out into the dirt so desperately you rip a nail clean off to you, but that seemed to be exactly what the owner of the second body did.

Finally you put your hand on one of their chests. 'Still warm' you noted meaning they had to have died rather recently as this was a fairly cold night. "Sir! He has to be close by. They haven't been here long." you shouted out to the team. Even if you weren't really sure he killed those two beside you he was wanted for killing 23 others and thus was a very dangerous threat to your team's safety. "Alright everyone let's separate into teams and survey the area. Our friend is brutal and ruthless. Keep your guards up and don't wander too far out, meet back here IMMEDIATELY if anything happens." Enrico ordered as seriously as he could to get his point across. Strangely enough, no one was jumping at the opportunity to pick a teammate so you figured you would say something first.

"Richard's always jumped in to help me when I really needed him." Go to Richard

"Edward's always lent me a hand when I was dogged down." Go to Edward

"Forest may get murdered without me to keep him from flying too far off." Go to Forest

"Kenneth had a hard time being overpowering himself, he could use me to keep him from getting his throat ripped out by someone else." Go to Kenneth

"Someone Should tell Enrico what you saw Wesker doing." Go to Enrico

(only pick this option if you saw Wesker 'checking' the helicopter before you all left.)

"Someone should go with the Rebecca. She Needs It." Go To Rebecca

(anyone may pick this option but you will not mention to Rebecca what you saw Wesker doing if you read Someone Should.)
