Near at Heart

CHAPTER 6

"Hi Devvion." I greeted him as he answered my video call. I saw him smiled and greeted me as well.

"I miss you Amethyst" he said which made me smile. This is it! Ito na ang pagkakataon para sabihin ko rin sa kanya ang tungkol sa nararamdaman ko.

"I have to tell you something Dev. Listen, I will just say it once." Seryosong sabi ko sa kanya. Tumango naman ito at sinabing go on.

"Devvion," I paused at huminga muna ako ng malalim. Paano ko ba to uumpisahan? Hayyst. Bahala na nga.. "Dev, I will answer your question. A-ahm, Dev I think.uhhh" narinig ko siyang tumawa ng mahina, "Dev, I think I am falling. Will you catch me?" I said while holding my breath and closed eyes. I can hear silence so I opened my eyes and there I saw Devvion smiling at me.

"You dont have to ask me, Amethyst. Kahit di mo pa sabihin, sasaluhin parin kita. So pano ba yan, girlfriend na kita." He winked. Nanatili lang akong nakatingin sa kanya. Aaminin ko kinikilig ako, and for the second time I fell in love and I feel loved. I touch the screen of my ipad as if I could touch his face. Until I just found myself saying those words.

"I love you, Genne Devvion Wilkerson", he is still smiling while deeply looking in my eyes.

"The distance may be far and wide but my heart can cover them all. The space between us is so much more but you should know that I love you so, Amethyst" I sweetly smiled at him. How I love this man! I am so lucky to have him. And now, I let my heart to beat for him. Now, I let myself to love him more than he loves me. Now, I wanted to take risk.

"I will wait until we finally hold each others arms. I will wait Dev. I will wait no matter how long it is ."hihintayin parin kita kahit alam kong walang kasiguraduhan kung ako pa rin hanggang sa huli.

Living in a long-distance relationship can prove to be quite a challenge. In fact, there are not many things that put a relationship as much to a test as distance. Sadly, the great distance that lies between you and your significant other complicates even the most basic things most couples take for granted. Holding your partners hand, smelling their hair, and simply lying beside them in the bed: all these wonderful joys of a relationship are made impossible through distance. Add to this the loneliness and sadness both partners may experience as a result of the physical separation and you have a true challenge for the future of the relationship. And yes, Im already experiencing these.

Remaining committed to a long-distance relationship can be quite tough. Even more so, it is exceptionally difficult to develop your relationship when you and your partner are almost always physically separated.

But despite all the difficulties, long-distance relationships can function quite healthily. Yes, maintaining a relationship over a great distance requires creativity and effort but it can be done. In fact, staying committed to the relationship can prove to be exceptionally worthwhile. This is especially the case when youre in a relationship with your true soulmate – the one who fully understands you inside out. No one would ever allow distance to get in between them and the most important person in their life.

Time elapse so fast, isang buwan na kami ni Devvion. As the time passed by, mas lalo kong minamahal si Devvion. Di rin nagbago yung pakikitungo niya sakin. Hes always that sweet man. I admit na medyo nahihirapan ako sa communication namin kasi matutulog ako samantalang gigising naman siya. But hes full of effort. Nagagwa niyang magpuyat para lang makausap ako. Madalas din siyang magpadala ng mga gifts sakin. Wala kaming naging problema ni Devvion. Ni hindi rin kami nag-aaway, not even once. I can say that our relationship is perfect despite the space between us.

August na ngayon, and start na ng klase namin. I took fashion designing in one of the exclusive school here in the Philippines. My parents chose Maxwell Academy wherein only rich kids can attend this school.
