Day 4
Crown

Au

Roman pov:

My room was a mess. I had torn the sheets off my bed, flung open the drawers of my dresser, pulled the clothes out of my closet, I was looking anywhere I could think of for my crown.

You see, I had a ball tonight and I needed my crown! What would it look like if the prince (soon to be King) showed up to 'The Ball of Love' without his crown? Hmm? It would look preposterous!

I was scrambling about everywhere looking for that thing, until I heard a quiet knock at the door. I froze, looking around at the mess of a room and sighed. I knew I was going to get scolded by my father if he saw this, and it was most likely him at my door. I mumbled a quiet "come in.", accepting my fate.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the face of my boyfriend instead.

"Hey there Princey." He smirked, causing my blush to rise. He looked around the room taking in the mess. "Whatca looking for?"

"My crown, I can't find it anywhere!" I huffed

He laughed pulling something out of his messenger bag. It was my crown. "The king asked me to polish it."

"Oh."

"Yeah," he walked up and hugged me "Well let's get this cleaned up.

I smiled and nodded a bit as he went over to fold my clothes, while I started to make my bed again. There was silence as we worked, but it wasn't a bad silence.
Finally as he finished folding my clothes, he asked me a question I was dreading.

"Are you sure about tonight?" He turned to look at me.

I sighed, unsure of what to say. Tonight is the 'Ball of Love', where each generation of Princes found their soon to be wife. Every girl within five years of nineteen was flocking to the place, hoping I would chose them. However, none of them knew my secrets.

I was gay, and already chose my soon to be husband. It was Virgil and I wouldn't accept anyone else, even though he is a handmaiden.

"I'm sure, I wanna come out." I wrapped my arms around him and he leaned into me.

"But Roman, they can kick you out! You're breaking three major rules," he huffed "you aren't allowed to be gay, you can't marry a handmaiden, and you have to chose at the Ball of Love."

"I don't care." I whispered

He turned around in my arms, putting his hands on my cheeks. "You always are the fanciful one." He pecked me on the lips. "Now, let's finish cleaning so you can get ready"

Virgil pov

I stood behind the curtain, leading to the throne room my nerves eating me alive. I peeked out and saw a blur of colors, ruffled dresses and glitter filling the room. Roman could fall for any of them, they were all beautiful, while I was just..... me.

I sighed, leaning against the wall waiting for Roman to get me. When he was supposed to announce the lucky girl, he was going to announce me. Why had I agreed to this? My anxiety was through the roof.

The worries filled my mind as I stood there waiting for the classical music to stop. I knew something was going to go wrong, I mean I'm apart of it so of course it is.

Finally a silence filled the room and Roman took the front of the room. I sighed getting ready.

"I have made my choice..." Roman's voice boomed throughout the room, as loud as my heart beat.

"It's... his name is Virgil."
