In the begining

MJ, Ned and I walk to the bus together every morning. We live pretty close to each other so it's not and issue waiting for each other. Ned and I have been best friends since we were kids. He knows everything about me, and I to him. He was there for me through my transition, he even moved schools with me so I could get a fresh start. I did try and keep the whole "avenger" thing on the down low but alas, I am horrible at keeping things from him.
MJ on the other hand is a little harder to open up to. She's more closed off than Ned and doesn't like to ask questions. Since we started walking together however, we've bonded over the many comfortable silences. It's nice having people to just be with, you know?
But today it's just me and Ned.

"It's kinda weird for MJ to be late." Ned spoke, breaking the silence. "Like I remember you being late once, she was all like 'Peter you idiot!' 'You asking to drop out?' " Ned mimicked.

"Yeah..." I trail. "Can't say this is normal..." I am unable to focus on the conversation, as I'm too busy listening to the distant police sirens, trying to decide if it's worth checking out.
I look over Ned's shoulder, taking a look at what I guess is a bank robbery. I squint my eyes to take a closer look, when I catch a glimpse of a figure gliding over and down to the scene.
"Shit" I say under my breath.

"You ok?"

"Oh yeah sorry it's just..." I throw my arms up towards the scene. "She's right there! Like dude imagine if I could just skip the bus and join forces with her finally. Like how have we never met?? I wanna meet her and discuss what it's like being s-"

"Spiderlings?" Ned interrupts.

"I was gonna say superheros... but sure, that too! She's just so... awesome man"

"I'm sure you'll bump into her one day peter. But not today! If both you and MJ are late, every teacher will single me out and ask me if I know where you are. Like hello I have other friends."

"No you don't." I laugh. As it's a known fact the three of us are incapable of social interactions outside of each other.

"You're right." Ned scoffs. "Imma send MJ a message, just to make sure she's ok."

MJ'S POV

SHIT. I am NEVER late. Not once, not even once. God, why can't criminals be respectful and not steal things in school hours.

Ding

After webbing up the final Jesse James wannabe, I leap up to the roof of the bank and look at my phone.
SHIT! They wanna know where I am.
I fumble to reply, struggling to decide what to say. As I press my thumb down to the keyboard, the screen is interrupted by a call.

Why is Nick Fury calling me?
