Kerrang! Awards

I was so excited to have a sleep in the following morning... they came far and few between most of the time. I woke up at 9am and had the day off until my stylist arrived at 2pm, so I met Luiz for late breakfast in the hotel before heading out for a run along the Thames.

My stylist arrived with 3 outfit options for the Kerrang! Awards; ready to make me look red-carpet ready. Luiz had given her the event brief and I loved all of the options she had brought since they all had a bit of an alternative edge. I went with a high-waisted, black leather pencil skirt and crop top; something simple but edgy, and with a hint of sexy. I kept my hair and makeup natural apart from a smokey eye, and after a few final touches I was ready. Luiz accompanied me again and we were whisked away; arriving on the red carpet around 5pm.

If I told you I knew who any of the people on the red carpet at the same time as me were, I would be lying, but then, they probably had no idea who I was either. A lot of people in a weird way looked like Oli from a distance, which made me nervous, but they were never actually him. I was seated inside with a couple of models I'd met and worked with before; one of them was dating someone famous who was also seated with us, but I forget his name. Luiz took me over to Fall Out Boy who were also there, but seated way up the front since they were obviously going to win an award, and I sat and chatted with them for a while. They introduced me to some of the guys from You Me At Six who were also hovering around, and Andy from Black Veil Brides. It was such a cool bunch of people all gathered in all room and to be mingling with. It felt inevitable that if Bring Me The Horizon were there that I was going to see them as I was sat at the center table right in front of the stage, but miraculously, it didn't happen.

Marilyn Manson took the stage to accept a 'lifetime achievement award', and other idol-worthy rockers such as Alice Cooper and Judas Priest graced the stage. Fall Out Boy were nominated a bunch of times, so were All Time Low and Pierce The Veil, and of course, Bring Me The Horizon. They eventually won 'Best Live Band' and I found out that they were in attendance as I watched them accept their award. Oli was in a suit, which was strange to see, his hair was long and messy and he was as awkward as ever making his speech. I guess I was kind of proud of them for winning. Fall Out Boy took home 2 awards, as did You Me At Six and Black Veil Brides. The event was really fun, and very different to any of the American awards shows I'd been to; it seemed much less serious and rehearsed, and definitely more about the music.

After the show, I jumped in a cab with Luiz and the couple I'd been chatting with at our table and we headed to the official after party at the Mandrake hotel. Another red carpet, a beautiful room with open bar and the most lavish velvet sofas I'd ever seen, not to mention the beautiful people inside. Since I had an important photoshoot the following day, I sipped my drink slowly; I wasn't going to have more than 2, and Luiz was on strict orders to take me back to the hotel at 11pm. I chatted with tonnes of people; of course the guys from Fall Out Boy and the bands they'd already introduced me too, as well as producers, managers... industry people. I networked and mingled my butt off and I'm pretty sure if I had of wanted a British rockstar for the night, I would have gotten one - or 5... some of them were pretty straight forward in their flirting, which I just thought was funny. I found British celebrities much more down to earth than American ones, and I really could listen to them all day with their accents; I loved it. I posed for photos with some of the bands, and time absolutely flew, but before long, Luiz was tapping me on the shoulder telling me it was time to go. I really didn't want to since I was having such a good time, but I reluctantly said goodbye to everyone I'd chatted to, and we made our exit.

Luiz gave me his coat jacket since it was cold, and as I stepped out the door, I walked straight into someone who was clearly in a hurry to get inside. "Joy?" the person asked as I looked up at their face. I felt the blood rush out of my face as I registered who it was.

"Jordan... Hi." I said, realizing it was Jordan. Bring Me The Horizon Jordan. Oli's friend Jordan. Jordan that I'd spent nearly a week with 8 months ago and had never seen since. I cracked a small smile to be polite, but honestly it was like I'd seen a ghost.
"Oh my God! How are you?" he asked with a smile. I was a little lost for words to be honest. I wasn't expecting this.
"I'm good, Thanks. Congratulations on the award!" I managed to blurt out.
"Thanks!" he replied. He actually seemed kind of excited to see me. "What are you doing here?" he asked with a puzzled look, but still smiling.
"Oh you know, model life" I chuckled. "I have to make appearances all over the place these days." I said with a 'pretending to hate my life' eye roll.
"You're pretty famous now, huh?" he said with a smile. "I'm really happy that you got your dream job." he added.
"Thanks." I replied with a smile. It was a very nice thing for him to say.
"Hey, you should come and say Hi to the others." he suggested, pointing into the venue. "We just got here." he added. I have to admit, his words made my stomach flip, and even if I didn't have to leave, I don't know if I would have actually gone to see them.
"Oh, I was actually just heading off." I said. "Early morning photoshoot, you know. Important people... I'm not allowed to party tonight." I added, making a tiny joke. "But, um, please tell the others I said Congratulations." I added with a small smile. I didn't want to seem rude.
"Oh ok," he chuckled. "I will tell them." he replied.
"Thanks. I'm sorry I have to run. It was nice to see you. Congrats again." I said, giving him another smile.
"You too Joy, see you." he replied.

I turned and started walking off to my car with Luiz, and he immediately looked at me in a way that I knew he was going to ask me who Jordan was.
"It's a long story..." I said with an exhale. "He's from Bring Me The Horizon."
"You have history with him?" he asked immediately.
"No. Not him... with Oli, the singer." I said. "Well, not exactly history." I said, correcting myself.
"Joy, believe me when I say every model I've ever known has hooked up with a rockstar before." he said with a grin, obviously finding it funny I was so weird about it.
"No, it's not like that." I said. When I started working with Luiz, he asked me if I had any ex-boyfriends or hook ups that he should know about, but Oli was neither of those things so I'd never mentioned him. I told him the entire story on the drive back to the hotel.

Luiz was surprised to hear about everything, but totally got why I'd seemed a little awkward around Jordan when I'd bumped into him. I assumed that by now Jordan would have told the others he'd seen me and Oli would know that I was in town and I didn't know how I felt about it. It felt weird knowing that he was so close to me at that party... but seeing how awkward I was with Jordan, I was glad I hadn't bumped into him. I almost felt as though fate was keeping him away from me; first at Download, now at the Kerrang! Party... we were literally within a few metres of each other but hadn't crossed paths. It was the complete opposite of last time I was in London and managed to run into him in the most unlikely of ways.

After arriving back at the hotel, I had a quick shower and posted a few photos to instagram from the Kerrang! red carpet and after party, and then it it was off to bed, ready for my photoshoot in the morning.
