When I came out of the bedroom Oli was sitting on the couch with his phone.
"I didn't know you took a photo of me on the bridge." he said, referring to the instagram photo I'd posted of him.
"Well, you looked really good, so I took it." I replied.
"I guess great minds think alike then." he said as he turned his phone around to show me. His instagram was open and he'd posted a similar picture of me standing on the bridge too, unrecognizable to someone who didn't know it was me, just like my one of him. I smiled thinking how funny it was that we both did the same thing.
"Don't worry, nobody will put two and two together." he said.
"I don't really give a shit if they do." I said with a smile as I shook my hair through my towel. Honestly, I couldn't care less if the media found out we were hanging out.I headed into the bedroom and blow dried my hair, putting on a little makeup and laying a dress out on the bed. In the time it took me to do those three things, both Behati and Luiz had messaged me about the instagram photos that both Oli and I had posted of each other - they were both absolute stalkers, I swear!
Behati: 'Omg... You guys are the cutest! Can you just marry him already? 😍 '
Luiz: 'Well this is unexpected, yet cute. Is there anything you want to tell me?!'
I replied to both of them, and I explained to Luiz why Oli was with me in New York. He seemed pretty surprised, which I guess made sense since I'd only really cleared everything up with him two days ago, and I'm not sure if he believed me when I said there was nothing going on, but he told me to have fun and to keep him updated on 'developments'. It was so funny that he called it that.
Oli headed into the shower and emerged ten minutes later fully dressed as I was running a straightener over my hair.
"Do you want me to do that?" he asked as I twisted my arm around to get to the back. I stopped and looked at him curiously.
"Straighten my hair?" I asked. Surely that wasn't what he meant.
"Yeah." he replied. "Don't laugh but I straighten my hair sometimes." he said with a smirk.
"When you can't get away with wearing a beanie?" I joked with a cheeky smile.
"Well yeah." he laughed. "And when it's longer than this." he said shaking his head so his fair flew around his face.
"Your hair was so long at the Kerrang! Awards." I said, remembering the night.
"Interesting that you remember so well." he joked as he walked over and put his hand out for the straightener. Maybe it was a little weird that I remembered, that or I'd just made it obvious to him that I took notice of him, even when we weren't talking.
"What can I say? I really like your hair." I replied.
"Do you?" he asked curiously. I just grinned at him through the mirror.
"It really suits you." I replied. I was kind of trying to flirt via compliments, but I think I was less than successful.I didn't really consider myself bad at flirting, and I didn't think I was overly awkward around guys... but something about Oli made me nervous and made me second guess myself. I don't know why I found it so hard to be outgoing and flirty around him... I guess maybe it was because there was more than just physical attraction going on with him? Or because I knew it wasn't like I would be jetting away from him and never see him again? Let's say I was at a bar... If I found someone attractive, I could flirt with them and act sexy no problem, but with Oli, I just couldn't seem to pull out the moves, and I didn't know why.
As I sat there and watched him drag the straightener through my hair, I started to smile. It was strange, yet nice having him do my hair. I was used to stylists doing it all the time, but I had never had a boyfriend offer to do it - not that he was my boyfriend, but you know what I mean. I picked up my phone and took a few selfies, making sure I got him in the frame. He didn't notice straight away but stuck out his tongue when he did.
"My new stylist." I said out loud as I typed the words into my phone. He laughed. I sent the pic to Behati and waited for the reply.
