I woke up and headed over to the East Side of town to meet the guys at their hotel. They were staying at the Marriott and were already waiting for me in the foyer.
"Where's Micky and Lee?" I asked, noticing they weren't with the others.
"They're still asleep." Jordan said.
"They're hungover." Oli laughed, correcting him.I knew a great brunch spot that wasn't too far away, so we headed off on foot. I had called them the moment I woke up and reserved a table since it was popular and could get pretty busy. We sat down and ordered coffees and breakfast before the guys started asking me about my modelling. They were really interested to hear what had happened with my career, and how it had got to the stage it had so quickly since they last saw me. I told them about Luiz coming on as my manager and gushed about how amazing he was. I asked if they would be in London during London Fashion Week, thinking that maybe they would want to come and see me stomp down a runway, but the guys would still be in the US on tour, so there went that idea.
We left the cafe and crammed into a taxi up to Central Park at midday. I thought I could show the guys a few things and get them 'out of the city' for a couple of hours. I liked to go and sit at the old castle there... it reminded me of fairy tales and those hopelessly romantic love stories and was just something cool, I always loved the bridges too, and you couldn't go to Central Park without visiting the terrace since it was featured in so many movies. We only had a couple of hours, so we piled into 2 rickshaw-type bikes to speed things up. Jordan and Matt paired up immediately leaving me and Oli together. I wasn't sure if they'd done that on purpose or if it was that neither of them wanted to share with Oli.
"You know I think I'm starting to really like New York." Oli said as we headed toward the castle. "I always just kind of thought it was crowded, unfriendly and touristy, but there's some cool places here." he said.
"You just like it because of me." I said. He looked at me strangely and I realized quickly how what I'd said had sounded. "I mean, because I'm showing you the side of it that isn't everything you just said." I laughed.
"Oh right." he said. "That is probably exactly it." he said with a little laugh. We stopped at my favourite viewpoint of the castle and we hopped out for a few minutes. "People are always surprised to find out there's a castle here." I said; my best tour guide skills on display. "I used to come and sit here all the time." I told the guys. "I'm a total sucker for fairy tales and since Sleeping Beauty is my favourite, I guess it kind of reminds me of it." I admitted. We continued on to see Bow Bridge. "You know someone told me it's unlucky to walk across it on your own." I told Oli who was beside me in the rickshaw. "Like you're only meant to walk over it with someone you love." I added. He screwed his face up at me like he was disgusted so I hit his arm and he let out a laugh. "Nah it's a bit cute." he eventually said.
"I mean, I've seen people walking over it on their own, but I dunno, I guess I'm just superstitious or something." I admitted, laughing as we pulled up to see the bridge.
"So have you never walked over it?" Oli asked.
"God no, I would never! I don't need any help with being unlucky in love!" I laughed.
"Do you dare me to?" he asked throwing one of his legs out of the rickshaw.
"NO!" I squealed, automatically grabbing his arm to stop him. Why on earth would he want to?! He laughed at how appauled I was that he'd even suggested it. Clearly he was not superstitious - or maybe he didn't care about being unlucky in love.It was then a quick whiz around the Terrace to see the water fountain and let the driver tell the guys all the movies that were filmed there. I asked the drivers to drop us over at the John Lennon memorial and I figured we could catch a taxi from the street there.
"So just for some perspective, you've probably seen about 5% of the park." I laughed as we jumped in a taxi. The guys seemed to enjoy the little whirlwind tour and thanked me for being a great guide as we headed back to the hotel.
