Girl's POV
I couldn't keep still anymore, ripping out the tube from my wrist and taking off the wires in a panic, my gaze darts around the room hoping to locate a weapon to defend myself with. I hear the door unlock, opening to reveal a dark haired man wearing a lab coat. He has his hands raised as if in surrender but I know better.
Backing away I quickly hit a wall, I have nowhere to hide. I see another man enter the room behind the first, this one with blond hair and a muscular build. I close my eyes, wishing I could turn invisible, that way, at least, I would be able to hide.
My eyes fly open as I hear two startled gasps. What? Looking at the men they seem confused, staring right at me.
"Where did she go?" The blond man speaks first.
What do you mean? I'm right here!
I know I'm here! At least, I think I am?
"We're going to need backup. I'll search the room while you get the others here as fast as you can."
I'm frozen in place, watching in shock as lab coat man leaves the room and the other man starts to look for me, even though I am standing right in front of him.
A shout from outside catches both of our attention.
"She's right there! I can see her on the camera footage!"
Blondie dashes out the door, closing it before I can even think of trying to escape. I can hear it lock behind him with a faint click.
Now that they are gone I can finally bring myself to move. I slowly approach the mirror, intending on checking to see if it is a one way window, though I'm almost positive it is. As I get closer I can see my reflection clearly imitating my actions, not invisible by any means.
Pressing my hand against the glass proves that it is a window, there is no gap between myself and my reflection. I can barely hear the men behind it so I focus my hearing on what they are saying.
*
"She's right in front of the window! This is trippy!""How come the camera can see her but we can't?"
"I have no clue, but I have an idea on how we can fix this little issue."
"What's your idea?"
"Let's wait for the rest, Tony might have some ideas of his own as well."
*
I peer through the glass, trying to see past the reflective layer. Getting the sense that they are off to the left of me I turn my head in that direction, my hand still pressed to the mirror.*
"What's going on?! Where's the girl?"A new voice interrupts the other two, I can feel a few people have arrived though.
"Just take a look at this."
-
-The silence is deafening, I'm unsure of what might be going on and it frightens me.
-
"So she can turn invisible to people but not to tech? Wait one second, I have to try something!"
The male saying this sounds excited, which can't be good for me.
Another minute passes in silence before I feel his return.
"I can see her, she's right here!"
My stomach tightens as I focus my gaze on where I can feel his presence, even though I am unable to actually see him.
"Whoa, she's looking right at me. It's almost like she can see me!"
"She can't see you, Tony, don't be ridiculous." A feminine voice scoffs, I recognize it as the woman who talked to me before I passed out.
"You don't believe me? You try it!"
"Fine, but only because I wish to see she is here myself, and not from a security camera."
There's another moment of quiet, my eyes are still focused on the male who figured out a way to see me.
"Weird, it's like something in our heads is causing us to miss her."
I snap my gaze to where she is, I don't like that they're talking about me as if I wasn't here.
She makes a strangled sounding noise in surprise, clearly not expecting my reaction to her words.
"This room is soundproof, correct?" The uncertainty in her voice makes me nervous, I'm not sure why.
"Yes, we made sure that someone inside wouldn't be able to hear anything going on outside, she shouldn't be able to hear anything except for the machines in the room."
A velvety voice interrupts the others.
"I took the time and effort to place a silencing shield around the room as well, but it does not seem to be working. Curious."*
My head is starting to hurt, from what I don't know. As my headache gets worse I barely register falling to my knees, I can no longer hear the people behind the window. My vision starts to fade again, I'm too unfocused to panic as someone enters through the door. I close my eyes as darkness takes me for the second time.꧁꧂꧁ ꧁꧂ ꧂ ꧁꧂
